REVIEW: Hardline by Meredith Wild

Hardline (The Hacker Series #3) by Meredith Wild: Blake and Erica are together and determined to stay that way. While they are making up for lost time, they have to deal with the aftermath of events in Hardpressed. Erica needs to show Blake that she is committed for the long haul and that she trusts him with everything she has.

Both benefit from the control that Blake takes in the bedroom, but Erica insists on keeping her start-up firmly under her control. She is very independent and struggles with the idea of losing control over her company when Blake demands that she let him fully into every part of her life, including her company.

Clozpin was so much more than a job, and seeing it successful was more than a short-term goal. I needed it to work, for so many reasons. If it didn’t, I’d be even more dependent on Blake’s wealth and security. While I appreciated that he would be that for me and never make me feel less for it, the idea of being completely dependent on someone else was unsettling.

Erica is left reeling when Blake’s enemies attack again. It seems like their pasts will never let them go or experience happiness for anything but the shortest periods of time. Dealing with Blake’s demands and jealousy on top of this latest disaster force her to make decisions on how to move forward with the business and their relationship.

“I want control, Erica. But I’m not going to take it from you. You have to give it to me. You opened the door. Now you have to walk through it. You’ve tried to draw this hard line between us, with work and our relationship, where you keep the amount of control you think you need. It ends now.”

Picking up right where Hardpressed leaves off, Hardline is an intriguing fight for control. Meredith Wild created tension and anticipation with Blake and Erica pushing each other as their relationship seemingly hangs in the balance. Ms. Wild also continues the supporting storylines featuring the secondary characters. Fans of J. Kenner will love Hardpressed!
