In Her Lover’s Forgotten Heir by Annie West, after an accident leaves Molly Armstrong with amnesia, she doesn’t know who she can trust. However, when billionaire Pietro Agosti claims he’s her husband and has come to take her home from the hospital to care for her, she realizes she may have no choice but to go with him. Yet, losing her memory isn’t the only major change in her life when the doctor tells her she’s pregnant. Will Pietro be able to convince Molly to take a chance on him or will Molly walk away because she feels she can’t trust him?

”But we have a place in Rome too? We’re going there now, aren’t we?”
He nodded. “We are. It’s not far. But don’t get your hopes up. The place has just been completely redecorated, so I suspect it’s not going to awaken any memories for you.”
“You really are a mind reader.” Last night, as he’d watched her, Molly had been convinced of it.
“Hardly, but it seemed logical you’d expect it to.”

What do readers get when Ms. West pens a romance novel encompassing a heroine with amnesia; a hero determined to make thing easy for her recovery, but ends up making things harder; dialogue that drew this reader in right from the beginning because there’s every reason to sympathize with the heroine because of what she’s going through; and a fast-paced plot that had me reading quickly, determined to discover what would happen, as the heroine’s memories start to come back? Well, readers get an interesting and compelling read with dialogue that is intense due to the main characters back stories and everything these two go through on their journey to happy ever after since lies always have a way of coming back to bite one in the a**. Will the heroine be able to forgive Pietro for everything he does to try and help her?

With the heroine, she surprised me with her character progression. She’s very vulnerable at the start with not knowing who she can trust. Really, Pietro is a stranger, even though he claims he’s her husband. Is he telling the truth? However, the more into this story I got, the more I found she was also resilient, courageous and I liked how she handled everything she discovered, as she began to get her memory back. Would she remember everything? While the hero, he’s arrogant; determined to get his own way in manipulating the heroine; and I liked how determined he was to help her, even if it seems he is driven by guilt of what happened between them in the past. Is he to blame for her accident? Will the hero helping her be good for her or detrimental to her recovery?

”So sex led to love? I can picture you sweeping a woman off her feet, Pietro.”
“You insist on thinking it was all down to me?” Slowly he shook his head. “Believe me, I wasn’t in the market for a relationship , particularly in my own home. But you made me change my mind.”
Something in his voice scraped at her consciousness. Molly stiffened. The subtle shift in his tone whispered a warning she couldn’t interpret. “You preferred to play the field then walk away?”

Overall, Ms. West has delivered a wonderful and well-written read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was strong from the moment they come face-to-face for the first time and gets stronger the more time they spend together; the romance was delightful, as the hero does his best to win the heroine over, even if he does go about things the wrong way; and the ending had me loving the hero’s determination to make things right with the heroine, especially after the way their relationship goes awry. Will the hero be able to make things right? However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely, as Pietro and Molly are so happy together. I would recommend Her Forgotten Lover’s Heir by Annie West, if you enjoy second chance romances, the friends to lovers trope, stories where one of the main characters have amnesia; or books by authors Dani Collins, Lucy Monroe, Chantelle Shaw and Natalie Anderson.
