Hired by the Brooding Billionaire by Kandy Shepherd: Is he tall, dark and grumpy? Or is something else Hired-by-the-Brooding-Billionairekeeping him in his shell? What will make him break out into the light again?

Shelley Fairhill has been burned. The men in her life have all turned out to be scum, liars the lot of them, so she is done. Done with men, who needs them? All Shelley needs is a garden to work on, a place to pour her heart and soul into. The one she passes everyday has her working up her courage to ask the owners if she can work on. Little did she know when she started to heal the garden she would be healing more than that.

Declan Grant knew he was hiding. He was okay with it and in fact if he could he would keep hiding forever, he didn’t deserve anything else. He believed that he cost the lives of his wife and child so why should he enjoy life when they couldn’t. The problem was when the council came calling and his lawn was the issue he had no choice but to hire someone to fix it.

With Shelley and Declan nothing is easy and there are a lot of trust issues. When in one day that both discover secrets about each other will it be too much? Or will that be the straw that allows them to get help?

Hired by the Brooding Billionaire is a sweet novel without any real heat, focusing mainly on these two souls not even really reaching out with secondary characters. The plot is almost reminiscent of Beauty and the Beast and struck me as really wonderful in the beginning. There are a couple on interesting spots either moving very quickly or very slowly. I’m not sure I can totally buy in to the ending though it does have a HEA which is nice how she got there I’m not sure. The characters and scenery are wonderfully well written though and overall this is a nice read.
