In Holy Frigging Matrimony (Tangled #1.5) by Emma Chase, Drew is up to his no-good hysterical antics again in this short story which takes place about a year after Tangled. I fell in love with the foul mouthed but loveable guy and his sassy girlfriend Kate in book one, and this time they are just as crazy in love as ever. This is one of those instances where I will caution you that it would be better if you check out the first book before reading this one. It will have you all kinds of confused otherwise.
My brow furrows. “Kicking me out already? I feel so used.”
She laughs.
I say, “I see how it is. You only want me for my body.”
Mimicking my earlier tone, Kate replies, “Well…yeah. Although your mind can be mildly entertaining.”
This story reads like Drew is talking directly to us, the reader, again, which I enjoyed to no end. Paired with his in-your-face candor it makes it seem like we’re old friends and he’s just filling us in on what’s been going on in his life. My only gripe is that now I will have to wait for the release of book two, Twisted, which will apparently be from Kate’s POV. But at least this short story was a nice way to tide us over until then.
Kate points her finger at me, like a teacher reprimanding a student. “Tell the truth, Drew.”
“What am I? Ten years old?”
“Emotionally? Sometimes. But that’s beside the point.”
Holy Frigging Matrimony is a wild but enjoyable ride. I can’t recommend it highly enough!!

Marriage: the final frontier. Steven went first. He was kind of our test subject. Like those monkeys that NASA sent off into space in the fifties, all the while knowing they’d never make it back.
And now another poor rocket is ready to launch.
