Hotter on Ice by Rebecca Hunter Living in fear had to end. Living on the chance that someone might ruin what she had, well she was done with that, for the most part anyway.

A trip across the world though, well for that Alya Petrova was willing to have security with her just one more time. She needed some sort of support and someone she could trust just in case. However her old security was now in love with her sister and wouldn’t be making the trip, perhaps she could convince the voice she had always heard but not seen to come with her?

Henning Fischer knew he wasn’t a fit companion for most people. He was good at his job, keeping them safe, but interacting with people just wasn’t his thing anymore. Except he did see one of his protectees as a bit more than a job, and not in the most professional of ways. Was he really supposed to let her go halfway around the world without him?

Henning and Alya knew from the moment they laid eyes on each other that this trip was not going to be easy and not all business, but would it be just for the trip? Or would the wall stay down between them forever now?

So this is part of a series and though it can be read as a stand alone, the reader just might not understand a couple of minor plots. Ms. Hunter has worked in so many tropes into this novel though. Everything from Alpha/submissive, beauty and the beast, employer/employee it’s there. That said she has done it so well that you don’t really see it until the end, so it’s not a typical anything. Her prose is well written and flows like ice melting off the mountain. The reader may feel the need to grab a few extra blankets when reading though as her descriptives are incredibly vivid and they do stay in the ice hotel. Which is funny because this is hot enough to melt at least a few of the rooms down. Overall a good read, great plot, and characters with growth.
