Inn at Last Chance (Last Chance #7) by Hope Ramsayis only the second book in the Last Chance series that I have read. What I love about this series is that even though there is an order to them, if you read them out of order (like I have) you are never lost. The books are wonderful and stand alone, can be read in any order, or in total order. Let me tell you a little about the Inn at Last Chance and what I loved the most about this exciting new installment of the Last Chance Series.

IATCJenny Carpenter is an excellent baker, a mother hen by nature. She loves, tends and feeds the masses with her delicious baked goods. She has also sunk every penny she has into the old Jonquil House, getting it ready to open as a Bed and Breakfast. Everyone is telling Jenny that the old hunting lodge is haunted and she would be better off leaving the place alone, but nothing will deter Jenny from following her dream and living her life as an independent woman. What a surprise she is in for when one stormy night there is a knock on her door that is destine to change her life in more ways than she ever realized.

Gabriel Raintree, former owner of the Jonquil House, bestselling author of horror books, and tormented soul, is just looking for a quiet place to lay low and finish the current book that he is behind schedule with. He knows for some reason that returning to his old summer home is exactly where he needs to be to gain the insight and inspiration to finish his book. What he does not need in the complications that the pretty little innkeeper is stirring in his heart, mind and soul.

When the county decides to shut down the Last Chance Library, it is up to Jenny and the Last Chance Book Club to convince Gabe to help them save their library. But when unexpected and scary things start happening, things that defy explanation, Gabe and Jenny are beginning to wonder is someone playing tricks on them, dangerous tricks, trying to get them to leave Jonquil House, or are they truly being haunted by some unknown force.

Ok, I really enjoyed this book. I love a little mystery with my romance, and that is exactly what I got with the Inn at Last Chance. We learn through this book about Gabes past. His connection the Jonquil House, is connection to the community and to Zeph, the old recluse who lives in the swamps. We learn more about Jenny’s upbringing, how her mother treated her as she was growing up. What made these two amazing characters the people that they are today, what shaped their lives. There are a few very big OMG moments, that will make you sit back and say, “WOW, I never saw that one coming!” I felt that way too. In the end, although it might not be your traditional HEA, the HEA is still just as sweet. If you have read any of the other books in the Last Chance Series, you will enjoy visiting with many of your favorite characters, and reconnecting with the small town that has become such a big part of the Last Chance experience. I loved this book so much I gave it 5 spook-tacular stars.

Jenny Carpenter is the unrivaled pie-baking champion of Last Chance, South Carolina’s annual Watermelon Festival and the town’s unofficial spinster. With her dream of marriage and children on hold, she focuses on another dream, turning the local haunted house into a charming bed-and-breakfast. But her plans go off course when the home’s former owner shows up on her doorstep on a dark and stormy night . . .

Mega-bestselling horror writer Gabriel Raintree is as mysterious and tortured as his heroes. His family’s long-deserted mansion is just the inspiration he needs to finish his latest twisted tale, or so he thinks until he learns it’s been sold. The new innkeeper proves to be as determined as she is kind, and soon Gabriel finds himself a paying guest in his own home. As Jenny and Gabe bring new passion to the old house, can she convince him to leave the ghosts of his past behind-and make Last Chance their first choice for a future together?

I have read all of the books in this series, so far. This one does sound a little different, based on your description. They do all have a little of the magical element, with the angels. Loving the series & I have to pick this one up. Thanks for the review!
