Innocent in Her Enemy’s Bed by Dani Collins is one of the best revenge tropes I’ve read. It oozes with all the goodness a revenge Presents should have. The only thing sweet about it is the beautiful dedication to the author’s Mum.

The thrilling commencement of the story builds up the anxiety and braveness our brilliant heroine, Ilona, feels as she takes each step closer to face her fate. She only has herself to back up and plead her case. I could feel her reigning in all her inner strength that her upbringing taught her to save her little world. In the pressure cooker environment awaits her challenger… her rival of sorts… her future husband, not that she knows that at the time.

Leander is a man simmering with revenge which he’s set to wreak on Ilona’s family. Her being the first port of call because it’s the easiest to get out of the way. But as each barb is delivered he’s shocked and intrigued at this stunning lady before him as she pleads her case, not in a begging way… in a very calm and collected way.

What I loved about this story was the instant tenseness that was created from page one. I loved the powerful reach that Leandra emitted. He had the world in his palm and he was ready to crush it with one squeeze and yet his heart shone through in many different ways. I loved the way he was able to illicit little titbits from Ilona and her life and past; he wasn’t entirely meaning to he was building up her self esteem and Ilona let herself absorb his strength. Leandra really shone for me, despite his determination to crush Ilona’s family.

I loved that Ilona was a successful business person in her own right and wasn’t intimidated by Leandra’s world. She fitted right in and she had an internal strength of character that was enjoyable to read. She was a flower unfurling in the spring. I loved their P.A’s and their little side story and I loved the redemption of Leandra’s mum and I especially loved how much the author convinced me Ilona’s family needed to be crushed and I was looking forward to that scene!

Highly recommended if you love a really good revenge trope where the characters are extremely likeable, both are successful in their own rights and despite their crazy worlds, you can feel them absorbing each others strength to bring about an almighty smashing conclusion. Loved it!
