In Island Doctor to Royal Bride by Scarlet Wilson, when tragic news reaches Dr. Arissa Cotter, she has no choice but to accept help from Dr. Philippe Aronaz when he comes into her clinic. However, working alongside the gorgeous doctor isn’t easy for her and when she learns of his true identity from the man himself, Arissa knows she has to either accept who he is or wonder if going their separate ways is for the best. Since she’s a woman that wants nothing to do with the kind of publicity Philippe is used to. Yet, there’s no denying their chemistry. Will Arissa take a chance on the man she’s falling in love with or will she walk away because she likes her privacy too much?

She folded her arms across her chest and stared up at Philippe. Mr Old-School Money. He shook his head a little.
“What’s wrong? Looked like I’d lost you there. Did I say something to offend you?”
She paused, trying to find words.
Philippe filled the uncomfortable gap. “I’m not quite sure what services you offer in the clinic, but I’m sure my ER experience will be sufficient to give a good service. Harry told me a little of the reasons he was coming here. He was excited about a research project on healing. I’m happy to help with that too. I carried out a few research projects as part of my training.”

What an absolutely entertaining, fast-paced, heartfelt medical romance Ms. Wilson has delivered in this book, encompassing two wonderful main characters that are so right for each other; compelling dialogue that had me hooked and wanting to know more about the hero and heroine; tough obstacles for this couple to overcome since the heroine wants nothing to do with the kind of publicity the hero receives because of who he is; a hero determined to keep his secret until the time is right; and a heroine with a heartbreaking back story that makes it understandable why she’s determined to do so much good for people of her country when it comes to women giving up their babies anonymously because they feel they have no other choice.

The way this story started had me immediately hooked, as the hero does his best to work his magic with the medical emergency he’s facing. Will he be able to save his patient, considering the circumstances he finds himself in? However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time where this story really takes off, as there’s plenty of chemistry between Philippe and Arissa. Will Arissa put her trust in Philippe and be able to work alongside him? Will Philippe be able to help Arissa keep her life private, especially when they’re spending so much time together?

With the heroine, she’s strong, brave and I liked how much good she does for her small country of Temur Sapora. She has a few interesting projects going on that I enjoyed learning about, especially the Safe Haven Project. I could also understand why the heroine was so determined to keep her life private after how her life started out. While the hero, he’s hard-working; determined to help the heroine in any way he can; and I liked the close relationship he has with his family. They are so supportive of him, which is proven through their actions and the way they’re so welcoming towards the heroine. Really, the hero’s family had me smiling at their interactions, especially when Philippe’s mother first meets Arissa and then when the heroine first meets the hero’s siblings.

=Before either of them had time to think, the King had kissed Arissa on both cheeks. His sister’s eyebrows rose in surprise then she stepped forward and held out her hand. “Grace Aronaz,” she said, leaving the Princess title off.
“And I’m the good-looking one,” said his brother jokingly as he held out his hand to Arissa too. “Anthony.” He gave Philippe a glance. “I think my brother has been hiding you from us all. Trying to keep you secret.” He dipped down low and kissed Arissa’s hand.=

Overall, Ms. Wilson has delivered a wonderful and heartfelt read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was tangible from the moment they meet; the romance was full of sweetness and had me loving the teasing dialogue – at times — between these two that upped their chemistry, and the ending had me worried for this couple’s happy ever after, but had me loving how far the hero was willing to go to show the heroine that she’s the one for him. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely, as Philippe and Arissa are so happy together and because this couple have done so much good for both their countries with the medical schemes they’ve implemented. I would recommend Island Doctor to Royal Bride by Scarlet Wilson, if you enjoy medical romances, the mysterious strangers trope, small town romances, workplace romances or books by authors Kate Hardy, Meredith Webber, Louisa Heaton and Susan Carlisle.
