Jordan’s Return by Samantha Chase was previously released in 2011 but is being published for the first time in paperback on June 7th.
Recuperating from an car accident she had been in with her ex-husband, Jordan takes her two sons, Joe and Jake, to the Virginia coast for a month. There she runs into her first love, Rob Tyler.
Rob regrets the way they ended things back in high school; he wants nothing more than to prove to Jordan that he’s changed. He also longs to have a family of his own, and the only person he ever pictured having that was with Jordan.
The story felt like it moved slowly at times. There were a couple of sections I found myself just skimming over. Other sections felt like they moved too fast. For example, Jordan and Rob hadn’t seen each other in twelve years, but it didn’t seem like they took the time to really get to know each other again until towards the end of the book, and it’s only briefly skimmed over.
They had talked for a long time after making love the second time. She shared stories about the boys and her life that she hadn’t shared before, while Rob filled in some blanks about his own life from the last dozen or so years.==
I found Rob to be overly pushy at times. He decides that he was going to buy a house with Jordan and the kids and tells her so without discussing it; he just announces it. Then he gets mad when Jordan asks for more time to figure out their relationship. The woman had gotten out of an abusive relationship and was recovering from an accident, so it was understandable she would be hesitant to jump into a relationship with the man who had broken her heart. When his sister even told Rob he was wrong for making decisions without discussing it with Jordan first, he gets mad at her, too. It felt like he wanted things his way and didn’t handle it well when that didn’t happen.
I liked the story but I didn’t love it. If you’re a fan of second chance romances, this may be something to consider checking out.

SOUNDS GOOD.

It was ok. Samantha’s books are usually hit or miss for me. This one fell in between.
