Last Groom Standing by Kimberly Lang: Dylan and Marnie couldn’t be any more wrong for each other, but sometimes chemistry doesn’t get that message.

Marnie was having a very interesting couple of weeks. She and Gina were talking, which made the Awesome Foursome a group of friends again. But Gina was sleeping with her brother, which was a reminder of all the damage she’d done to their relationship in the past. Now she was at Cassie’s wedding to Tuck on the very day she was downsized from her job. The upside to that was the plentiful booze she had ready access to.

Dylan didn’t have a problem showing up to Tuck’s wedding ceremony. Yeah, that meant he would be in the same room as the woman he’d almost married, Reese. But when she broke it off on their wedding day he hadn’t been heartbroken. He didn’t want to marry for love. He cared for Reese, and they were friends, but marriage was just a next logical step for him. She was still in love with Mason, and as long as she was happy he’s okay with that. What he’s *not* okay with is the fact that Reese is pushing him to babysit her friend Marnie. It’s not his fault that she’s the last single woman of the Awesome Foursome. He’d keep an eye on the slowly getting hammered Marnie and then make sure she gets home okay – but he’d do it grudgingly.

Neither of them counted on the fun they’d have commiserating over a few drinks. Dylan was shocked at the proper southern belle slamming back some not-so-girly drinks. Maybe there’s more to her than her prim exterior showed.

Marnie hated guys like Dylan. Suits who needed a wife to be his hostess, arm-candy, and broodmare – and nothing more. However, it was nice of him to stick around and keep her company. She hadn’t wanted to bother her friends with her problems at Cassie’s wedding, so having Dylan as an outlet was a pleasant surprise.

What rattled them down to their core was the earth-shattering kiss they shared which led to a night of passion. Passion that they had no idea was simmering between them. Dylan didn’t *do* passion and the last thing Marnie wanted to do was sleep with a man like him – and doubling the guilt was the fact that he was Reese’s ex. Sleeping with a friend’s ex just wasn’t done. But they did it anyway, and the next morning it was difficult to regret it.

Situations kept throwing Dylan and Marnie together, and as much as they wanted to resist – they couldn’t. Could Dylan challenge his preconceived notions of relationships? Would Marnie get over her fear of falling back into old patterns? Well, fate had plans for them, and it’s hard to fight fate.

Another KISS series that doesn’t fail to disappoint. I’m amazed at how much I love these extended storylines, and the authors who kept the characters and situations vivid & alive are just awesome. I’m sad to say goodbye to the Awesome Foursome and their wedding planner. However, I’m stoked that their stories were all tied up really nicely in the last installment – sometimes series’ drop the characters from previous books, but they all had lovely parts to play in Marnie’s book, which didn’t take anything away from the playout of her relationship with Dylan – the “Last Groom Standing”

Again, I find myself recommending the entire Series: The Wedding Season I don’t think you’ll be sorry if you decide to take a ride with the Awesome Foursome.
