Learning Curve by Max Monroe: Finn Hayes has one main objective when it comes to being at Dickson University, and that is to drop a major bomb in the perfect life of professor Ty Winslow. Turns out all these years Finn and his siblings have had the short end of a very drunk stick and abusive stick in the form of their no good father, while their half siblings the Winslow’s have been living the good life… well that is all about to change now that Finn plans on upending Ty’s life by informing him that their deadbeat dad has a whole other family! Well that was the plan, but as they say all good plans tend to go out the window when a Kelly gets involved. No matter how hard Finn tries to keep to his plan of being closed off and being a loner, this is simply impossible when his new roommate is none other than the life of the party otherwise known as Ace Kelly. Soon Finn finds himself having the full college experience, underground fight clubs, secrete societies and falling for the most perfect girl that he has ever seen, Scottie Bardeaux. The question is when things get a bit out of hand will Finn learn to lean on family or is he to scared to let them all in?

Learning Curve was incredible, this was a book that I had been waiting to read for a long time, I mean I have been a fan of Max Monroe for as long as I can remember and the Billionaire’s series was easily an all time favorite of mine, so to finally get their next gen book, you could say I was thrilled. And let me just tell the hype did not disappoint one bit, this book was just perfection to read, I loved the way these two incredibly talented ladies combined the humour of old favourites but also craved out a new storyline for these characters.

Finn was such a complex hero, gosh my heart just broke for this guy. The things that he has had to face and sacrifice just broke my heart. Finn really was a broken hero with a heart of gold that just needed to be loved. His unconditional love for his family was something so pure and this only made me love his character all the more. I really liked that we got to see all the layers to what made Finn the way he was, we got to see him battle his emotions, trying to out his family first while also living his own life and learning to allow others to help him. Aside from this I loved that he was genuinely a stand up guy especially with the way he always stood up for Scottie. Now for our leading lady, well Scottie was the typical sweet innocent heroine, for the most part I really liked her character. She was sweet, funny and had her heart in the right place even if things didn’t always go to plan. I will say my heart broke for her and the toxic relationship that she had with her alcoholic mother. Both of our main characters did not have the most healthy home life, and had to battle toxic parents. I think the only thing that I was not a hug fan of was the way things ended for Scottie, without giving away to much, I really did not think the results of the accident had to be so drastic. For me personally this did not really aline with the easy going, happy vibe that comes with a Max Monroe book, but this is just my personal preference.

The connection between Scottie and Finn was just perfection. These two had an instant connection that only grew stronger as the book progressed. I loved that while Finn desperately tried to keep Scottie at bay it was near to impossible. I loved their banter and getting to see them slowly fall head first. I also really liked the way they worked through the hard moments and the fact that even when Scottie tired to push Finn away he persisted.

Now I think the thing that really made this book for me were the supporting characters. I mean we had the entire billionaire gang back together how can this book not be a hoot! Thatcher and Cassie as parents! Sure gold! These two only got funnier as they aged and I loved every single moment that we got with them and all of their wacky antics. I just loved the crazy prank wars that Thatch had going with his son Ace, these were just brilliant and so was Thatch. Now for our wingman Ace, I just loved this guy. He was a mini Thatcher but with a bit of Cass thrown in to keep things interesting. I really liked the relationship that he formed with Finn and how close they became. Most of all I loved the relationship between Ace and Julia, these two soooo desperately need their own book pronto! As for the joining of the Winslow/Hayes siblings, well this was just beautiful. I loved the way things worked out and getting to see these two families blend together to form one strong family. I really loved getting to see Finn and Ty build their relationship and seeing Finn learn that he now has people in his corner to support him.

Learning Curve was an incredible read, this book has a bit of everything; giggles, tears, fights, drama, prank wars, wacky over involved parents and one incredible love story that defied the odds. I loved every moment of reading this slow burn romcom and I just can not wait for the next book in this series, with so many incredible characters to choice from we are really going to be in for a treat and hopefully a nice long series!

Finn Hayes is what girls my age would call “stupid hot.” He’s handsome, has brown eyes that remind me of warm chocolate chip cookies, and a tall, muscular build that makes marble sculptures jealous.

Green flag, right?

Wrong.

He’s also broody, closed off, and so complex that it feels like I need a decoder to crack him.

He’s unlike anyone I’ve ever met and fights like he came out of the womb swinging, taking down both my ex-boyfriend and an ex-UFC fighter with ease.

But the underground society at our college known as Double C has nothing on him in the secrets department, and it’s that mysterious edge that keeps me coming back for more.

This is more than the story of how Finn and I fell in love.

This is proof that love has a learning curve. Sometimes you succeed, and sometimes…it destroys you.
