In Lost to You (The Seaside Chronicles #3) by Kelly Elliott, Okay, so Palmer Bradley still hasn’t settled on a career yet, unlike her three siblings. But she has several part-time jobs, mostly revolving around animals, that keeps her busy and provides an income. Becoming a nanny has never been on the radar. But as Seaside, Maine’s newest resident, Dr. Mason Bryan, keeps pestering Palmer to be a nanny to five-year-old Charlie, she feels her resolve weaken. And not just to help out the sexy single dad with his adorable son. She’s also finding it difficult to ignore her attraction to Mason, which might just have disaster written all over it.
‘And that was when I knew–Mason Bryan had the power to destroy me, body and soul. But I was going to take the leap.’
Mason wasn’t looking to find the woman of his dreams when he moved himself and his son to the coast of Maine. Peace and quiet, and a chance to start over was all he wanted. But the first time he saw Palmer, Mason knew she was a keeper. Particularly once he saw how both she *and* Charlie lit up when they were anywhere near each other. He knows it’s risky to get into a relationship with his busy career and a five-year-old to worry about. But he has a feeling that having Palmer in his and Charlie’s lives permanently would only make things exponentially better for them all.
“I’m so sorry you don’t have a mommy, Charlie.”
“It’s okay, Daddy. If I could pick a mommy, it would be Palmer.”
“And if I had a son, I’d pick you.”
Charlie and I both looked up to see Palmer standing in the doorway, tears in her eyes…
A small town, slow burn romance between a single dad and his son’s nanny, Lost to You warmed my heart thoroughly–as I’ve come to expect from every single Kelly Elliott novel I pick up.
‘A sparkle of happiness shone in my son’s eyes, and I wanted to kiss Palmer for being the one to put it there. Truth be told, it was one of the many reasons I wanted to kiss her.’
I know I say this with each new book I read in any of Kelly Elliott’s series, but I think this is my favorite so far in the Seaside Chronicles. Palmer and Mason made an adorable pair. Both kind and with a heart of solid gold, they clicked instantly…although it took them quite a while to finally give in to their attraction. I loved that it wasn’t that Mason or Palmer were playing games. They didn’t want to get their hearts broken after both having bad breakups in the past. And where Mason’s five-year-old son Charlie would be caught up in whatever happened between them, neither the sexy doctor nor Palmer wanted to risk upsetting him. Gotta love it when the adults act like, well, adults and put their loved ones first.
Speaking of cutie pie Charlie, can I just say how much I love any of the children Elliott includes in her books? He had all the makings of a future lady’s man. While he might not have the cowboy swagger of Blayze, from the Meet Me in Montana series (soon to have his own book, Fearless Enough, in the upcoming spinoff!) but Charlie was a serious charmer. And boy didn’t he have Palmer wrapped around his little finger right from the start. I couldn’t get enough of their scenes together. How close of a bond they had and how it took Mason’s breath away, every time he saw them painting or cooking. *swoon*
Oh…and the mystery as to who is writing the gossip column in the local paper is heating up with a potential clue at the end. Or maybe Elliott is trying to throw us off the path? It sounds like we’ll finally find out in Braxton and Harlee’s book, Someone to Love!
QOTD: Are you a fan of the “single dad” trope in romance? If so, any favorite single dad books you can recommend?

Keepin’ it Reel
Seasiders,
We all know the youngest Bradley sibling must be the most carefree of the bunch. Last this writer heard, Palmer was employed with at least five different jobs. Pet walker, house sitter, vet receptionist, nanny, and the least of my favorite, pooper scooper. To each her own, I guess.
Word on the docks is Palmer has caught the eye of our latest new Seaside resident and single dad, Hunter Bryan. Oh, his little boy, Charlie, is just the sweetest thing. A little seagull has planted in my ear that Palmer will be Charlie’s new nanny…don’t worry, Seasiders, I’ve got my ear to the ground and will keep you updated on this latest development.
Fair winds and following seas!
