Love Letters from Her Cowboy by Sasha Summers is the seventh book in the Texas Cowboys & K-9’s series. If you have not read any of the previous stories, you’re ok to jump into the series here; the book works well as a standalone.

Emory Swanson has come to Granite Falls to heal from losing her baby and her husband. Working at her Aunt Ruthie’s bed-and-breakfast, she runs into an injured dog hiding in the bushes. Cowboy Dougal McCarrick showed up right on time to help her out, but now he can’t get her out of his mind.

Dougal isn’t good with speaking his feelings out loud, so he expresses them in the way he does best: through poetry he secretly leaves in the mailbox of the bed-and-breakfast. He understands Emory is dealing with a lot of pain, and all he wants is to uplift her spirits and let her know that there are people there to support her. Emory harbors a lot of guilt over her husband’s death, and the words Dougal writes touch her deeply. While she doesn’t know the poems are from Dougal, she does recognize that he’s a kind soul who she likes to be around.

Dougal is very sweet and caring man. He never pressures Emory for more than she’s willing to give. He’s willing to move at a pace Emory is comfortable with. Emory is sweet as well, and readers won’t be able to help but feel for her and the pain she’s been through.

If you’re looking for a story with little drama and loveable characters, look no further. Love Letters from Her Cowboy is a sweet and charming small-town romance that will have readers wishing they could have their own version of Dougal.

Practical cowboy Dougal McCarrick sure didn’t believe in things like love at first sight. But the moment he sets eyes on Emory Swanson and the injured dog she’s rescuing, Dougal can’t help but be captivated by the beautiful Granite Falls newcomer with the mournful eyes. So much so that the shy rancher pours his feelings out in letters. Racked with guilt over her husband’s death, Emory’s still paying penance for the past. Why does she deserve the beautiful words of a mysterious cowboy poet? Dougal may just be the one to melt the ice from her heart…and in the process, capture his own elusive and forever love.
