Mad About the Man by Tracy Anne Warren: Brie is happy enough to go along with a Mad About the Mancoworker to try to snag a new and wealthy client for the law firm. When she realizes that said client is her own tormentor from their middle school days, it’s enough to make her see red. She clearly remembers all of the stunts Maddox pulled to embarrass and humiliate her. So, when Maddox taunts her yet again, she becomes a bit over aggressive in what should be a friendly game of mixed doubles.

“Was it an accident?” he asked, a knowing expression in his dark brown eyes. “I got the distinct impression at the time that your serve landed exactly where you aimed.”
Unflinching, she looked back. “It did. Too bad your face got in the way.”

Maddox was half in love with Brie when they were 12, but now he’s even more attracted to the grown up version of the girl of his dreams. He’s more than willing to manipulate the situation so she’s forced to spend some time with him. Both of their lives took a different path after middle school, and he can’t wait to catch up and get to know the woman and skilled attorney.

Brie isn’t quite sure what to make of Maddox’s offer due to their past, but she’s determined to advance at her firm, which means she’s left without a choice. After beginning their somewhat adversarial business relationship, Maddox just happens to be where she is outside of work.

“Good. I’ll come by your place. Tomorrow. Early evening. Don’t bother making dinner. I’ll bring something with me.”
“Maddox, I told you. Whatever tonight was, it’s over.”
“Expect me by five. Now, you’d better hurry.”

They bring out the worst in each other when they fight their overwhelming attraction. Brie can only hold out for so long before giving in to the inevitable. They both assume that this will be a brief relationship, but find that feelings end up running deeper.

Mad About the Man is an entertaining and fun romance where Maddox gets another shot to win over the woman he’s always wanted. Mad About the Man can be read as a standalone. Tracy Anne Warren built up the tension and anticipation for this pairing with their every interaction. Ms. Warren developed a really well matched couple with a very persistent Maddox. Fans of Tracy Solheim and Jenna Sutton will enjoy Mad About the Man.

Another great review and another book to add to my buy list. I don’t think I should keep coming back to this site. My book budget is crying.

Thanks for the review, Kim. I plan to get this book. But the cover always throws me since there’s another fairly recent book with the same one. LOL

I completely understand! I’m always thrown when different books have the same cover or title.
