Made For You by Natasha Madison is the second book in the Made For series, which is a spin-off of Only One, one of my favorite series. The close-knit Grant/Horton/Stone families are passionate about hockey and family. Their witty banter, hilarious family drama, and affection for each other are heartwarming. This is Vivienne Grant, the last single child of Matthew Grant, and Xavier Montgomery’s story.
Successful hockey player Xavier Montgomery left the game of hockey abruptly two years prior after hitting rock bottom. Craving peace he purchased a boat, where he now spends all his time with his dog, Beatrice. He thought he had left the hockey life behind him only to discover his new bothersome neighbor is related to the famous Grant/Horton/Stone hockey family. He must constantly remind Beatrice and himself of their dislike for new people and their not needing friends. But how can he resist the charming and cheerful Vivienne?
“Every single time my lips touch hers, it’s like a piece of me is put back together. Every single time my lips touch hers, it’s like breathing becomes that much easier. Every single time my lips touch hers, it’s like I’ve finally found my home.”
Vivienne Grant loves how peaceful the water is, so she bought a boat to her dad’s dismay. She plans on living on it over the summer and working on her newest project. The only downside is her grumpy neighbor who confuses her. One day he refuses to talk to her and the next he is inviting her over for dinner.
This was a beautiful, emotional, and heartbreaking story. I really liked how the author addressed Xavier’s mental health and depression so respectfully. She focused on a very sensitive topic that is not addressed often enough in real life. Xavier showed such strength and bravery by opening up and discussing his mental health and the lack of help offered to professional athletes. Vivienne had always been on the sideline in previous books, so I really enjoyed seeing her character come alive. She was realistic, likable, and easy to connect with. This was such an incredible book and I enjoyed it so much. I cannot wait for Tristan and Abigail’s book, which is the next in the series.

Vivienne
I did the last thing I ever expected to do. I bought a boat. A beautiful boat that was all mine to spend the summer on.
Only thing I was looking forward to was the calm being on the water brought me.
A place where I wasn’t a hockey dynasty princess or the only single girl of the family.
What I wasn’t looking forward to was the broody man in the boat next to me.
Xavier
I was at the top of my game two years ago.
Then it all came crashing down.
I hung up my skates and vowed to never play again.
I was good at hockey, but hockey was bad for me.
I planned to spend my life on my boat with my dog.
Alone. Happily alone.
Until she came along.
