REVIEW: Man of Honor by Diana Gardin

HJ_TopPick Man of Honor by Diana Gardin is intense, passionate, and gritty. The Man-of-Honorpast isn’t pretty, but with the right person, the future can be beautiful.

Drake Sullivan and Mea Jones share a complicated past. The man rocked her world once and then she bailed. Now they only cross paths when it has something to do with their friends, but when Drake shows up at the bar she’s working at, slinging back drinks, Mea wants to find out what’s going on.

Drake doesn’t normally go on a drinking rampage, especially since his mom was an alcoholic, but now that she’s dead, his emotions are all over the place. When he sees Mea again, he’s blown away. He has no idea what he ever did to make her hate him, but he plans to find out. How was he supposed to know she had rules?

Mea is strong, independent, and damaged. There are reasons why she has rules in place concerning men…and it’s heartbreaking. I have no idea how she’s the person she is today, with everything she went through, but one thing is for sure, that woman is not weak. Sooner or later, Mea realizes Drake is different and slowly lets down her walls with him. She’s knows Drake can be trusted with her secrets, but how can she lean on him, when his life is a mess, as well?

“When I’m with her, I forget to drown in my own pain and failure. I just want to absorb hers.”

Drake proves over and over again what a great man he is. He doesn’t rush Mea and when she needs him, he’s there. This is one hero you won’t be kicking out of bed!

If you love your heroines to be strong, your heroes to be even stronger, and want a book that will keep you reading past your bedtime, Man of Honor is for you!

The best rules are the ones worth breaking . . .

After his mother’s funeral, ex-Army Ranger Drake Sullivan wants only to disappear and drown his sorrows in whiskey. Then he sees her: Mea Jones. An untamed, sexy-as-hell whirlwind of energy. A few years ago, she showed him the best-and hottest-night of his life, then walked away without a backward glance. But he’s never stopped wanting more.

When it comes to guys, Mea has rules. One night. No dating. Whatever it takes to have control and keep it. With Drake, it’s all heat and hurt and hunger, and pretty much the opposite of control. And that makes him dangerous as hell. Mea has her own demons, and falling in love-or even in lust-is strictly a no-go proposition. But she soon finds out Drake is incredibly single-minded when it comes to getting what he wants. And he’s determined to be the exception to all her rules.

Reader advisory: The heroine’s past deals with dark elements some readers may find disturbing. Recommended for mature audiences only.
