Marrying the Single Dad by Melinda Curtis was a special and Marrying-the-Single-Dadinspiring story. Melinda Curtis introduces the reader to Brittany and Joe, who are both new to town, and are both trying to overcome other people’s perceptions of w ho they should be.

Joe is scraping by, trying to support his daughter, while building a life for them. He’s also trying to put his “wild boy” past behind him, as well as the uncle who raised him from his teen years on, but who is now in jail. And the FBI is repeatedly trying to reach Joe about his uncle. Brittany is trying to prove her worth as an artist of unusual sculptures, while supporting herself as a hairstylist and helping her aging grandfather. She must also deal with her sister who keeps trying to convince Brittany to buy part of the family B and B.

Joe feels reluctantly attracted to Brittany, and his daughter “Sam” immediately likes Brittany, who is able to see through the “tomboy” façade Sam puts on, to the fact that Sam really does want to be treated like a girl. The author skillfully weaves in townspeople with every day unique quirks.

Melinda Curtis really keeps the reader guessing until nearly the end about a future for Joe and Brittany. Readers who love a ‘feel good” or “chick flick” type of love story will definitely enjoy this!
