Misfit by Elle Kennedy: As a divergent new Prep series that is neither Off-Campus or Briar, Kennedy takes us on RJ, Fenn and Sloanes’ journey; an adventure that holds the same class and intrigue, but has an edge. Mixing, light crime with raunchy young adult romance, RJ and Fenn are literally thrown together – fresh cab off the ranks style step-brothers as their respective parents have married; RJs a flight attendant and Fenn’s a multi-millionaire investment banker.
And whilst our duo get off to a pretty sketchy start, not buying into the ‘til death do us part’ that their parents have farcically embraced, being bunk mates as Sandover, a boarding school for criminally minded rich kids becomes the perfect stomping ground for both to shift in perspective, particular when he headmasters daughters Sloane and Casey are thrown into the strictly out-of-bounds mix.
Written from character POV, the tone is 100% apt, and whilst I don’t believe that much partying and raunch is actually occurring in reality, the cold edges in the structure make believability irrelevant. Like her other series, this one has teeth; centring on a post-prom tragedy that has forced Sloan and Casey to change to an all girls Catholic school and with RJ as the new addition to Standover, ushers in a new world and new regime for the young adults in the area.
But mostly, navigating meaningful relationships and confronting real love sits at the core. And whilst some of the forgiveness concepts are fairly adult, it doesn’t detract from an ounce of the narrative. This is one heart pumping read; spicy, meaty and certainly on point in terms of balancing ideas and concepts, and definitely not a recommendation for those under 18!

Finding out your mom is marrying some rich dude you’ve never met is enough to make any eighteen-year-old guy’s head spin. But for RJ SHAW, it only gets worse: he’s being sent to Sandover Prep for senior year. If there’s one place a misfit hacker like RJ doesn’t belong, it’s an ivy-covered all-boys boarding school for rich delinquents.
RJ knows his stay at Sandover will be temporary. Which means there’s no point making friends or trying to fit in. But the plan to remain antisocial goes awry when he meets a gorgeous girl in the woods on campus. SLOANE TRESSCOTT is pure temptation, with a sharp tongue and an ice princess attitude RJ’s determined to crack. Except there’s a catch. Sloane is the one girl he is forbidden from touching.
The headmaster’s daughter.
Good thing RJ doesn’t believe in rules. Sure, Sloane insists she’s swearing off guys this year, but their connection is impossible to deny. He wants her bad, and he’s going to win her over if it kills him.
Unless her ex-boyfriend kills him first.

Not my usual read, but it might be interesting to look into.
