In Murder at Sunset Rock by Debra Webb, Olivia has returned home for her grandfather’s funeral, only to discovery that he may actually been murdered. She has to turn to Huck Monroe, the last person she wanted to turn to for help. Huck, now a detective in Sunset Cove, had broken her heart years earlier.
As it becomes clear that there’s more to Willy’s death and that Olivia is in danger, the pair have to navigate the web of lies to sort out the truth. And along the way, they might just get the second chance they didn’t know they wanted.
The author has crafted a page-turning mystery. It’s fast paced, engaging, and filled with twists and turns. Just when you think you have it figured out, the author turns you around in another direction. These twist and turns will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Nothing is as clear-cut as it seems. The second chance romance between Olivia and Huck doesn’t overshadow the action of the book but enhances the story itself.
Murder at Sunset Rock is intriguing small town murder mystery filled with lies and intrigue. The author has outdone herself with this book and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next in the Lookout Mountain Mysteries series. This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone. If you enjoy a good mystery with plenty of suspense and mixed in with some romance, you should consider giving this one a read.
