My Favorite Boss by Melanie Moreland: When Magnolia literally runs into her interviewer, she scrambles to try to make up for being late. She ends up being
the most prepared candidate and Alex is very impressed by her. As the two start working together they find themselves in compromised positions multiple times.
Alex is known for his gruff demeanor, but Magnolia looks right past it. As he gets to know her, he finds that he likes her more and more, but he can’t let her in further than he allows. As she starts to fall for him, he still tries to hold her at a distance.
When he learns that she isn’t as strong as she seems, he just wants to protect her. As his protection grows into more, can he learn to let Magnolia in and love someone?
Magnolia was such a strong female character that you couldn’t help but love her. The way she stood up for herself in every aspect was refreshing. You could tell she had some weaknesses and she wasn’t necessarily the most self-confident person but she let Alex become her person. As the story continued, you learned more and more facets of her persona, and she really learned how to lean
Alex’s growth throughout the book was monumental. He started off as this gruff womanizer, but his exterior hid many burdens. He didn’t know how to approach Magnolia due to his treatment from his family and his previous relationships. As he lets her in, he learns how to open up and communicate with her. It helps him grow in ways that he doesn’t expect.
I was addicted to their relationship from the get go. Their banter was so organic and you could tell that they both enjoyed each other‘s company.Their struggles were also very real. I could relate so much to Magnolia. Everyone wants someone to look at them the way Alex looks at her, but most of them wouldn’t figure it out until it’s too late. Thankfully he did.
Honestly, one of my favorite parts about this book was the fact that it just kept going. You thought it was going to end, but it never did. There were so many times when the book could have ended, but it never did. Another thing would happen to them, and then another thing would happen to them and it kept going.
It literally felt like a never-ending story, and I really hope when the next book in the series comes out, we get to revisit Magnolia and Alex and learn what else has happened to them.

Get ready to laugh out loud in the office from New York Times bestselling author Melanie Moreland
My new boss—Alexander Bane
Aptly named since he’s the bane of my existence.
Please isn’t in his vocabulary.
He grunts, growls, and demands.
If only he didn’t look so sexy when doing so.
If only his mouth weren’t so addictive when kissing mine.
He’s quickly becoming my favorite boss.
Which is wrong.
My new assistant is an unwelcomed distraction.
Snarky, witty, always smiling.
Constantly putting me in my place.
Making me second-guess my decisions.
I dislike it. Intensely.
Unless I’m kissing her.
Then Magnolia Myers becomes my favorite person.
Which I hate.
Two people working together, disliking each other.
Until they don’t.
Then the fun begins.
HR has never been so entertained.
Author’s note: For those on the lookout for a hero who’s so charming when he’s bossy that it makes you want to follow his orders just to keep him talking.
