REVIEW: Nailed It by Cindi Madsen

Nailed It by Cindi Madsen: Ivy runs from anything that even resembles commitment, which is how she’s still a bartender even though she needs more in her life than making drinks and dealing with drunks. She had a front row seat to how love and relationships never seem to work out with the endless rounds of boyfriends that her mom has gone through since Ivy was just a child. Her own attempts at relationships have reinforced the idea that attachments are to be avoided.

Jackson is the oh so sexy brother of Ivy’s very best friend. He’s the exact opposite of everything that Ivy looks for in a man: steady, reliable, dependable, loyal, honest, and competent in so many things. Over the years, they have developed a relationship complete with flirty banter, barbs, and enough chemistry to light a fire. Ever since a brief fling that ended badly, their relationship has turned more antagonistic than ever.

Except Ivy actually needs help in a house flipping project. She has great ideas and the stubbornness to do it, but she needs Jackson’s expertise as a contractor. Ivy and Jackson attempting to work together around dangerous tools could be a recipe for disaster despite their temporary truce. It isn’t long before the sparks that fly whenever they’re in the same room catch and they’re back to a with benefits arrangement. Ivy lives by a set of rules to protect herself, but Jackson is adept at breaking down her walls.

“Well, I’ll be playing hard to get until we go on a date.”
I crossed my arms. “You’re not saying that we’re not having sex until after we go out, are you?”
He mimicked my posture. “That’s exactly what I’m saying.”
“You’ll never last.”

Nailed It was sizzling hot and hilarious. Cindi Madsen captivated from the very beginning with snappy dialogue, a fun plot, meddling families, and an adorable cat. Ms. Madsen draws you into this world and makes home renovation seem like fun. Fans of Lorelei James and Sydney Landon will enjoy Nailed It.
