In Not the Witch You Wed (Supernatural Singles #1) by April Asher, Witch Violet Maxwell has had thirty-two years to get used to being called the Maxwell Dud. The Firstborn of triplets, she’s the only one who is magic-less. Her two sisters, Rose and Olive, are super understanding. The rest of her family–and the rest of the Supernatural world, for that matter–is not. Now as Vi is forced to look for a mate, thanks to a law that dates back centuries, her answer appears to be none other than Lincoln Thorne: the wolf shifter who broke her heart fourteen years ago. Oh, and he also happens to be the Alpha of the North American Pack.

‘Lincoln Thorne had broken her fragile teenage heart once. She’d be damned if she let him have a go-round at her battle-scarred adult one, too.’

Lincoln is definitely in a predicament. He has a council of Elders breathing down his furry back to find a mate. Soon. And he’s trying to make changes within the Supernatural community to bring them into this century which is being met with opposition. But when gorgeous Violet comes crashing back into his life (literally) Linc knows the best way to help them both: fake-dating to get the Elders off their case for a little while. It turns out to be one of those “It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time” situations because Linc–and his wolf–instantly fall all over again for Vi. But given their stormy history, her struggles controlling her new-found Magic, and a power coup setting up in the Supernatural ranks, do they have any chance of making it out unscathed?

‘Violet Maxwell was the one who got away. And he wasn’t just the bastard that let it happen.
He was the idiot who hadn’t run after her.’

The snark! The sass! The sexy attraction! The secrets! The many types of Supernaturals! Okay, I’m out of “S” words, but you get the point. Not the Witch You Wed was one laugh-out-loud scene after another, interspersed with lively banter and trouble galore.

“I’m trying to learn thirty-two years’ worth of Magic in three months, and Sparky is being a diva, picking and choosing when it wants to make an appearance.”
“Sparky?”
“If men can name their penises, I can name my Magic.”

I think I’ve just found my new favorite paranormal series–and a new author to stalk–I mean, follow. *wink* I had the best time reading Not the Witch You Wed and getting to know the incredible world April Asher built for this series. This had the comedic timing of Molly Harper and Darynda Jones (LOVE them) but was set in New York City so it also had a very modern, urban feel to it. And it worked on every level for me. Who knew a paranormal romantic comedy (a PNRC?) was just what I needed in my life right now?

Told from both Violet and Lincoln’s POVs, this was a second chance romance that was not an easy sell to either of them. I adored them as a couple and thought their heat level was off the charts, even as they cracked me up continuously. They had a backstory filled with love and a powerful connection but then it turned to heartbreak and animosity unfortunately. There was a reason for what Linc did that broke them up in their late teens. Not that Vi ever found out. So I understood why it took a lot for her to trust him again. But honestly, that was half the fun, watching them reconnect, and with Vi giving Linc such a tough time–mostly in good fun–while he proved himself.

I think readers will have a blast with Vi’s brand of feistiness and with how caring she was about others. She had a tight bond with her sisters of course, being that they were witch triplets. But she was kind and compassionate with everyone in her life. And Linc. *dreamy sigh* Talk about a sexy, sigh-worthy Alpha. He was one of the good guys–er, wolves, who was equally compassionate and truly tried to be there for every member of his pack. And I loved his vision for what he wanted things to be like in the future for Supernaturals, which played a big part in what happened between Linc and Vi.

QOTD: This world April Asher built has many types of Supernatural species. Do you prefer a diverse cast like this (where you might have a bit of a learning curve) or books that focus on one type of Supernatural being?

A fake relationship between a magic-less witch and a wolf shifter turns to more in the start of a bewitching new paranormal rom-com series.

Magic-less witch Violet Maxwell wants nothing to do with alpha wolf shifter Lincoln Thorne—the man who broke her fragile, teenage heart. But when the two of them are forced by arcane Supernatural Laws to find mates, Violet and Lincoln agree to fake-date their way to a fake-mating in order to conjure themselves some time.

The joke’s on them. When old feelings make a reappearance—along with Violet’s magic—they both realize there’s nothing fake about their feelings. But there are old secrets and looming threats that could snatch away their happily ever after, again. One thing’s for sure: magic doesn’t make dating and love any easier.

In Not the Witch You Wed, April Asher brings all the hilarity and sweet, sexy moments you love in a romantic-comedy—plus a fun dose of magic—to this spell-binding new series about being sexy, single, and supernatural in New York City.
