In One Man (Naked Trilogy #1) by Lisa Renee Jones, Jax North entered into Emma Knight’s life like a sultry wind. He swept her away with his charisma, his kindness, and his killer looks, even though she knows he’s keeping something from her. And that he’s not a fan of the Knight family in any way. Their mutual attraction is insane. Emma knows she’s going to fall for Jax’s seductive charms easily. Being together, exploring that chemistry is no hardship–in fact it’s the most pleasurable time she’s ever spent with a man. It’s when their pasts catch up with them and their families become involved that things get complicated, and when Emma begins to wonder if there is an ulterior motive for Jax’s sudden interest in her.

‘He’s broken in some way. I’m broken in many ways. This draws us to each other. I know this. Death has been our mutual calling card, but for the first time, I wonder if that bond heals or destroys.’

After losing his older brother and his father recently, Jax has taken over as the head of North Whiskey. Something he never expected to happen. But he’s trying to make the best of his expanded involvement in the family business as well as hopefully getting some questions about recent events answered. All roads point to the Knight family on the other side of the country. So as Jax jets back and forth from his home in Maine to do business in California, he seeks out the one member of the Knight family who could possibly help him: Emma. But he wasn’t expecting to fall head over heels for her, which unfortunately complicates matters greatly. Although Jax wouldn’t change his reaction to Emma in any way once he has her in his life.

“What are you doing to me, woman?” I ask, my mouth closing down on hers… She’s my motivation now. She’s changed why I’m here.

Holy. Cliffhangers. One Man was the dramatic, super sexy beginning to a whole new trilogy from Lisa Renee Jones that promises to be every bit as intense as her previous novels have been.

‘Emma is a Knight, but I want her to be different than the rest of them. Because as long as the taste of her is on my tongue, revenge will be far more bitter than sweet, but I won’t let it go.’

I’m not kidding when I say “what a cliffhanger”! In true LRJ fashion, we had a huge twist at the end of this novel, leaving me hungering for more. More about our intriguing couple. More about the secrets they’re both keeping. And more about the tragedies in their pasts and how it relates to their current situation. Whew. A lot happened in this first installment in the Naked Trilogy and even though there’s a certain set up for LRJ’s stories, I’m pleased with how each couple has their own dynamic and issues to face–this book included. And One Man was written in a flowing, easy manner, with dual POVs and a nice amount of emotional depth, so it didn’t take long to fly through the pages.

Our couple, Emma and Jax, were quite compelling together. I’m still kind of feeling things out and trying to sort through whether their secrets will make or break my opinion of them, although I have faith in LRJ to keep them relatable and their redeemable qualities intact for her readers. I thought it was interesting that Jax and Emma both grew up in powerful families but had rather different relationships with their fathers. That definitely colored how they viewed the world–and each other. There were some melodramatic moments and angst as Emma dealt with finding out about her father’s true colors after his death, trying to steer clear of her ex-fiance, and with Jax’s conflicted emotions about her being a Knight, considering his dark views on her family overall. It made for some fun fireworks between them and if anything it fueled the fiery connection they had.

A bit of danger. Hidden agendas. Secrets. And an undeniable passion that couldn’t be ignored. One Man definitely held my attention as I tried to piece together what Lisa Renee Jones was and *wasn’t* telling us about this absorbing story.

Jax North. He’s handsome, brutally so, and wealthy. Our first encounter is intense and sex is my escape. I go with it. I go with him and what a ride it is. And then, I say goodbye. Only you don’t say goodbye to a man like Jax if he doesn’t want you to. I’ve challenged him without meaning to. He wants me. I don’t want to want him, and yet, I crave him. And he tears me down, my resistance, my walls. But those walls protect me. They seal my secrets inside. And I forget that being alone is safe.

Before long, my secrets begin to be revealed, and I trust him so deeply that I think maybe he can handle them. Maybe I dare to believe that alone isn’t better.

Until I discover that Jax was never an accident.

He has secrets.

He knew my secret. He came for me.

One Man is the first book in the dangerously sexy Naked Trilogy by New York Times bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones.

It was a great start to the trilogy. And it was fun seeing some of the characters from the “world” Lisa has created for her other books pop up here and there! 🙂

Thanks, Kathleen! She puts out a fair number of books in a year, but they’re certainly quality stories with tons of emotions and just enough heat. Happy reading to you!! 🙂
