Out of Love by Ruth Cardello: After recently finding out he has a twin, Scott finds himself having switched places with his new twin in order to secure a business proposition. He was given only one rule: stay in the condo. When he ventures out to his brother’s office, he tells the staff that he’s not to be bothered hoping to deter anyone from speaking to him. When an aggravated client shows up and demands an audience, he has no choice but to talk to her. He doesn’t expect to be so drawn to her in ways that he has never experienced before.

Monica is determined to give the man who is asking her to review her numbers a piece of her mind. She has worked way too hard to be questioned, especially when her father is on a time crunch for the project. When she meets him in person, he throws her for a loop. She wants to stay mad at him, but his charm is throwing her off her game. When he suggests that they look at the numbers, she tentatively agrees.

What they find is that the number have been purposefully messed with. Her father has lots of power and the motive is unclear. Scott has to decide what to do since he wasn’t supposed to interact with Monica to begin with. There’s a lot at stake between his brother’s and Monica’s father’s companies, but Scott has the knowledge to help out.

While the two work together, they learn more about each other and their lives, but Monica has no idea that Scott is actually Scott since she still thinks that he is his twin. When they adventure to Scott’s farm, she finds out the truth about Scott, his real life, and has to decide what she wants to do next: continue on her current path working for her dad or choose a life with Scott.

I really like Monica as a character in the ways that she stood up for herself and her family. She dealt with a lot of questioning at the same time, but it was validated. Over the course of the book, she finds herself learning more about what she finds passion in and what she wants in life. She learned how to stand up for what she believes she deserves when it comes to her relationship with her father. Because of Scott, she learned more about how her father functions and how his mind works as well.

Scott was a layered character not just by acting like someone else. He had much more depth than most people have him credit for. I really liked that he had a bigger backstory than we were prepared for. You didn’t really know what to expect from him.

Overall, I think the book was good, but it was a lot at times. It was actually difficult to write the review, because there were many extra things happening that I felt were unnecessary. I think the book was tied up in a bow at the end, but it took a bit to get there. Looking back at the entire story, I liked it, but it was hard to understand sometimes where it was going.

Laughter and sparks set the stage for a fun romance from New York Times bestselling author Ruth Cardello about a farmer who switches places with his business-savvy twin brother and falls in love with the daughter of his brother’s biggest client.

I just found out I have an identical twin. I’d love the idea if he wasn’t an arrogant, overconfident businessman who is determined to save my farm even though I’m in no danger of losing it. When I agreed to switch lives with him, it was supposed to be for a couple of hours.

I was told to lie low, meet no one, and let him deal with the oil company that was sniffing around my property. I agreed to the switch only because it was the first time since we’d met that my twin had shown interest in my life, and I hoped it would give us a better understanding of each other.

Hours drag into days. I consider our initial agreement void and head to his office. I’m sitting at his desk, mostly minding my own business, when a beautiful woman blusters in, ready for a confrontation with my brother about an email. She’s the daughter of my brother’s largest client.

I only flirt with her to make her smile. What could it hurt to pretend to be my brother just a little longer?

I didn’t expect to uncover a plan to sabotage my brother’s company. I don’t want to believe that the woman I can’t get out of my thoughts and would love to get into my bed has anything to do with what I’ve discovered.

Save the company.

Save the girl.

I have no idea how I’ll do either, but when something is done out of love, it has to work out.
