Pretend Honeymoon with the Best Man by Andrea Bolter: Laney Sullivan has led a fairly quiet life being raised by a single mother after the man who fathered her abandoned them both. She enjoys working in a coffeeshop and would love one of her own someday.

Ian Luss comes from a wealthy family that has marriage more as a merger for fortune and prestige. He had resigned himself to marry a woman from an upper echelon. His grandfather has paraded a bevy of potential wife material in front of Ian. So far, he is less than impressed. When he gets a chance to be the best man in a friend’s wedding, he is thrilled to spend some time away from all his everyday stress and busyness,

Laney has been invited to be maid on honor for the bride of this union. She feels more than a little uncomfortable around the lavish wedding plans. When she meets best man Ian she is attracted by his good looks, but she always sees someone who is kind and caring. He is very different from her ex.

All the wedding events go off as planned until the bride and groom eat oysters without “R” in the month of August. They both become so ill with food poisoning they know they can’t make it for their lovely honeymoon in Bermuda. Neither one of them know that the other offered the free honeymoon to Ian and Laney.

Laney and Ian discover this on the plane to Bermuda and find out the tropical resort is a couples only destination. Will they be able to pretend they are newlyweds to enjoy all that the paradise location provides?

I’ve never been to any places in the Caribbean. The lavish descriptions of the settings, drinks and food were enchanting. It was the perfect setting for love to bloom. Ian and Laney tried to live up to the fact they had no future together. It shows that theirs was a slow burn romance where fire didn’t burst forth until later in the novel.

I’ve read other novels by Andrea Bolter in the past and this one is another great addition to he body of work. It’s perfect for a summer read as well as being able to warm you in cold winter.
