Pulled Under by Kelli Ireland: When there is smoke there is usually a fire, but you have to pay attention to get those first whiffs of smoke before the inferno starts, right?
Harper Banks had to follow the rules. Every time she had ever tried to follow her heart something went wrong and her heart was broken. Have you ever tried to put back together a vase that just keeps getting broken? It gets harder and harder every time. So it would be nice and neat and orderly from now on. It was that she wouldn’t have a heart but she wouldn’t use it to make her decisions. At least that was what she was telling herself.
Levi Walsh was smart, like super smart, except when he wasn’t. He just started out with this new business venture, just opted into a great club and everything looked great. Then something just didn’t seem to make sense so he started to ask questions. He had way too much riding on this for anything to be at all off. Except the same time he started to ask questions, so did the IRS.
When Harper comes to town determined to follow the rules and get the bad guys she doesn’t realize what she is walking into, unfortunately neither does Levi. Throw in some really bad guys, hot bikes, some strippers and enough heat to make the devil sweat and who knows how this case will turn out. Will they prove where there is smoke there is fire? What of the fire will it warm your heart or require a call to the fire department?
Ms. Ireland has pulled out all the stops in this novel about a strict IRS agent and a not quite what he seems stripper. She plays with the readers as we have to keep his story straight as much as he does. There is something about Harper though that makes the vulnerable in all of us stick out just a little bit more and make our hearts break and soar with her. This is not a faint of heart book. In fact between the drama, the suspense, the HEAT and the romance this is one roller coaster of a ride that once you get on you won’t know what to do when that final word hits.

Just weeks ago, Levi Walsh became the proud part-owner of Beaux Hommes, a bar featuring the sexiest exotic male dancers in the city—including himself. But as Levi, a financial whiz in his own right, goes over the books, he realizes something is definitely not right. And then the IRS comes knocking on his door.
IRS investigator Harper Banks is determined not to notice that Levi is hot, ripped and seriously sexy. Her job is to investigate dirty businesses, not indulge in even dirtier pleasures. But even as his skilled seduction melts her rigid self-control, Harper is certain of one thing: Levi is lying to her. Which means she’ll have to strip him down…and pull him under!

Thanks for the review, Valerie. This sounds like a romance with quite unusual characters!

I’m about half way through this book. I love that she works for the IRS and also loves motorcycles , which she learned from her dad.
