Putting-Out-Old-FlamesPutting Out Old Flames by Allyson Charles: Jane has a good life. She’s got a job she’s good at, good friends, and a well-meaning hippie mother. The only thing she’s missing is a man who makes her tingle and is willing to commit. Too bad the last man who made her tingle also left her high and dry via a greeting card before leaving town to pursue his dreams. Needless to say, Jane isn’t thrilled when the former love of her life, Chance, strolls into her home as the new fireman in town. It gets worse when she learns he will be co-chairing the annual fireman’s ball…with her.

Chance has changed quite a bit in the last nine years. He’s grown up and seriously filled out. He’s looking forward to a fresh start after his time in California. He’s surprised to see Jane again, although she was never too far from his thoughts over the years. Since they are forced to work together, this would provide an opportunity to rekindle their former friendship.

“Forget it. I’ll just call an exterminator.”
“For one spider.” Shaking his head, Chance rose to his feet. Moving to the kitchen, he said over his shoulder, “I’m doing this as a favor. Which means, when I want a favor from you, you reciprocate.”
She watched as he walked back in with a paper towel in his hand. “What kind of favor?”

Chance and Jane are as hot together as the fires he puts out, but Jane is more than reluctant to travel down that road again. They banter and push each other as they make all the arrangements for the ball. The forced proximity makes them interact and they can learn each other all over again as the people they are now. They also can’t ignore the chemistry between them.

“I’m beginning to think you’re giving me the silent treatment.”
“The silent treatment?” Hands on her hips, Jane raised her eyebrows. “What are you, twelve? I just didn’t want to talk to you.”
His brows drew down. “You have to talk to me. We’re cochairs of the charity ball.”

Putting Out Old Flames is a fun, flirty, sexy second chance romance. Allyson Charles created entertaining characters with great interactions. Ms. Charles provided a good mix of fun and romance with some more serious scenes. Fans of Shiloh Walker and Lorelei James will enjoy Putting Out Old Flames.

TOO HOT TO HANDLE

Jane Willoughby has a temper. Sure, in her day job answering calls for 911, she can keep her head no matter what the emergency. But when her ex appears on her doorstep on her first sick day in years, expecting her to act happy he’s her co-chair for the annual fireman’s ball, she feels a little righteous wrath is justified.

Chance McGovern broke up with her with a greeting card, for crying out loud. He doesn’t get to just sprout some washboard abs and put on a uniform and behave like any other tasty firefighter.

Jane has no idea what’s happened to Chance in the last nine years—and no interest in finding out. Not even a teeny-tiny spark. No matter how hot he is. Or how well he remembers the little things that make her laugh, and cry, and spontaneously combust.

And she’s going to be working with him one-on-one. At least there’s a fireman on call . . .
