Racing To You by Robin Lovett is about two completely different people, who find love unexpectedly.
Aurelia is a teaching in France thanks to an assistantship. She’s worked her butt off so she could finally see France, but things aren’t going as expected. Her students aren’t very tolerable and she sees them as racist. I didn’t see that at all, I just felt that the students wanted more information on her background. Aurelia takes everything to heart and kinds of shuts down if something doesn’t go her way. She’s also very naive and obsessed with the thought of having a grand adventure while she’s in France, but she keeps to herself and never goes out.
Terrence is cocky, flirtatious and wants to impress Aurelia. In the beginning, they don’t really get off to a good start. She thinks he’s just some dumb jock, but he’s out to prove her wrong. Terrence is out to make a name for himself as one of the fastest sprinters in the world and even though he wants Aurelia, the most important thing to him is his bike and what he can do with it.
“I’m not supposed to have time for you. But I want to make time for you.”
When Terrence is around, Aurelia lets loose. She allows herself to experience the beauty of France and the wonders of falling in love. Before Terrence, Aurelia was boring. She was alone and the only thing she really did besides teach was read poetry books. She’s in this amazing country, but completely missed the beauty around her…until Terrence blazed into her life.
I actually didn’t care for either character. Aurelia came off as weak and she’s very easily embarrassed, especially when it came down to sex or just looking at Terrence and it made the scenes awkward. I really felt like the only connection Terrence and Aurelia shared was sex. They argued a lot and had to filter their conversations to not offend the other and it just wasn’t a real relationship to me. It also took me awhile to get into the story and once I did, the story didn’t live up to my expectations. I was hoping for more heat, more romance, and more interest, but sadly it missed the mark for me. The writing is good, it’s just that I didn’t connect with the characters, but that doesn’t mean you won’t!

Love—the one roadblock they never expected.
Aurelia is living her dream, teaching for a year in the south of France. Except it’s all going wrong. The carefree culture is challenging her academic goals, and her students are so difficult that she wants the unthinkable: to give up and go home.
Meeting Terrence doesn’t help. When he’s not training for the Tour de France, the cocky pro cyclist is flirting with Aurelia, but she didn’t cross an ocean to hook up with an American jock, even if he does have killer dimples and looks hot in spandex.
Until the jock sets out to prove he’s more than mere muscle. He wants to teach her what having fun really means, which could be as dangerous to her structured life as it is to her heart.
As life hits unexpected roadblocks, they turn to one another for support, and flirtation becomes game-changing love. But Terrence is chasing his dream of being the fastest man on two wheels, and she isn’t sure how far he’ll go to win…or how far she’s willing to follow.
