Honey feels she can’t stay at her family home any longer. She has already planned to take a job with a man she met on a dating app. She doesn’t get far with running away when her older car breaks down. She is out in the middle of nowhere without cell service. She is afraid she will freeze to death since no one knows where she is. As if by miracle, who should come along but Jericho. He has decided to connect with some family he didn’t know about until recently. Neither make it to their destinations. A huge blizzard comes up and the two are lucky to find a vacation cabin that is empty. It looks like they might be trapped until almost Christmas. The fire in the cabin may not be just in the fireplace.
I loved both Jericho and Honey. They had been childhood friends and both lost a mother. Neither wanted to admit as they grew older that there were feelings underneath that were more than friendly. Honey seemed to get her feelings out by bickering and Jericho stayed away from more than casual relationships. The author slowly reveals what has shaped their lives and held them back in many ways.
The cover of this book is absolutely stunning. It fits perfectly with the plot. Although Rancher’s Christmas Storm is #4 in a series it’s a great standalone.
I have read several novels by the talented Maisey Yates. I hope to read more of her back list in the near future as well as upcoming tales.
