Rescued By the Guarded Tycoon by Rosanna Battigelli: Ronnie is on her way home when she spins

The weather is too dangerous for him to get her help or take her home, so Red Brannigan takes Ronnie to his Victorian mansion. The power goes out even in the wonderful home, so the two of them spend the night in bundled up by a roaring fire.
Ronnie finds out that Red is a good friend of her cousin Casson, with whom she and her young son Andy are currently living. Red is the owner of a large architectural firm in Toronto and has renovated the mansion to get away from the city.
Both Ronnie and Red have big hurts from the past that severely affect the present. Ronnie’s husband left when he couldn’t deal with their son’s cancer and the treatment for it. Red got very attached to his former girlfriend’s young son and was devastated when she broke off things with him and he no longer had access to that sweet boy. Both Red and Ronnie have sworn off serious relationships. Can they have a future after their special night or will they have to go forward on their own?
I loved both Ronnie and Red. Ronnie is a loving mother and kind to everyone. She is strong and brave to make a new life for herself after her husband’s abandonment. Red is a loving person, too, but is afraid to lose his heart to a child again and is afraid to get involved with Ronnie. Even though he is rich and ambitious, he is generous and caring. I love tales that involve Vikings, even modern ones.
I have never been to Canada. The author brought the area near Toronto and night in that city to life for me. It makes me want to visit after Covid dies down. The author knows how to craft a sweet love story that will bring a smile and give you hope.
