In Running Wild (Sisterhood Diaries #4) by Susan Andersen, Magdalene ‘Mags’ Running-WildDeluca is back home in El Tigre, South America to find her missing parents. After years in the U.S., she was finally about to start her career as a movie makeup artist. But now Mags is running through the jungle with a drug cartel after her. Having sexy Finn Kavanagh come to her rescue is one of the best things to happen yet. But they are in no way out of danger and can’t let their chemistry distract them. Yeah. Easier said than done.

‘…Rising onto her toes, she kissed him. She’d intended something swift and sweet–a thank you of sorts. But the instant their mouths touched, electric shock-like impulses hurtled through her veins and all she could think was gimme.’

Finn was all set to begin his hike up the Andes and into the Amazon rain forest when he spots blonde beauty Mags in trouble. She captures his attention as well as his protective side with her plight trying to find her missionary parents. Finn didn’t realize quite how much trouble they would find themselves in when he agreed to help Mags, but now that he has a chance to get to know her, he’s sure it will be worth every close call if he can call her his own.

“But I’m a big boy,” he said unequivocally. “I take no for an answer.”
She blew out another sigh. “Maybe I’m worried about my own poor impulse control.”
“Oh, baby–” his grin wide, white and wicked “–you don’t wanna be telling me that.”

Running Wild was as much an adventure as it was a romance. Susan Anderson takes us on a thrill-ride through South America while our hero and heroine outrun a drug cartel. And fall in love of course.

This was a super sexy, fun read where the main characters didn’t really take themselves too seriously but they ultimately took their situation seriously. I mean, being chased through the jungles and back roads in South America by angry thugs is nothing if not dangerous.

Finn and Mags were an opposites-attract couple. He was a hard worker who was pretty low-key and he was in need of a break from his loving but intrusive huge family. Mags was funky and artistic, with–and I say this lovingly–a bit of a flaky side to her. She was such a quirky, lovable person and she brought out the fun, very flirtatious side of Finn. I thought it was realistic that Mags envied his big family given that she was an only child and was rather lonely as a teenager. It made for some great discussions between them.

Their romance and conversations were a huge part of the story, almost, but not quite, overshadowing the drug ring situation. A lot of time was spent on Finn’s casual views about sex and Mags being the one who wanted to run when things got too emotional. The ending for me seemed a bit anticlimactic in regard to Mags’ parents, but I loved how her and Finn’s portion of the story finished off. It was definitely a fitting HEA that will be sure to make you smile.

Do you like your steamy romances to have an exciting, suspenseful edge to them? Then Running Wild is definitely for you.

They can’t escape the heat…

Magdalene Deluca isn’t the damsel-in-distress type. But if she has to involve a stranger in a dangerous chase through South America, she’s glad Finn Kavanagh’s the guy she sucked into her problems. Very glad. The man oozes sex and magnetic confidence. And since their connection is steamier than the sultry rain forest, why waste time resisting him?

Finn’s peaceful vacation is blown to bits the second Mags strides into view. For years he’s ignored his family’s pleas to settle down. Now he’s falling hard for a blonde force of nature who’s allergic to commitment. First he has to keep Mags safe as they search for her missing parents. Then they can determine if it’s time to stop running—and take a chance on the wildest thrill he’s ever known…

I know, Kathleen! It’s been almost four years since the previous book in this series came out. It was worth the wait, though! 😉

Thanks for the review, Michele. It’s been quite a while since I’ve read one of this author’s books, or one with the characters being chased through a jungle. I guess now’s the time.
