In She’s the One (Boggy Creek #3) by Kelly Elliott, The holidays used to be Bishop Harris’s favorite time of the year, considering he owns the Wonderland Tree Farm in Boggy Creek, New Hampshire. But that was before his wife Abby left him a couple of years ago. Now all he wants to do is finally be able to put their sad past behind him and move on. Bishop is all set to do so–he’s even starting to date–when Abby moves back home to Boggy Creek right before Thanksgiving.
‘Abby’s eyes met mine–and my heart felt like it slammed against the walls of my chest. If I’d had any doubts about loving this woman, they were instantly washed away.’
The fire between them hasn’t died. Neither has Bishop’s anger over the way Abby so suddenly took off to Boston. But when they finally start talking things out, Abby feels hope for the first time in about two years. Being back home near her parents and her friends also helps Abby feel more like her old self–something that has her revealing to Bishop where her head was at when she left. They’ll have a long road to repair everything between them. But it looks like a happily-ever-after could possibly be in the cards for them after all.
‘How had I ever been so damn stupid to leave this man? After everything I’d put him through, all he cared about was making me happy.’
An emotional reunion romance that was honestly a nail-biter, wondering how it could possibly work out, She’s the One left my heart warm and happy by the time we got to its lovely holiday-themed ending.
“Abby.” Brushing a kiss across her lips, I smiled. “Your name is the only one that has ever been written on my heart. Even when I was desperate to let you go, I couldn’t.”

Kelly Elliott sure knows how to pull on her readers’ heartstrings! Abby and Bishop’s story is one that’s been hinted at through the first couple of books in the Boggy Creek series so I had an idea as to what caused Abby to leave Bishop. But to actually read the details was pretty heartbreaking–and to see a couple who were so in tune together, so in love, go their separate ways wasn’t easy.
I think Elliott painted their relationship and their personal lives realistically, given all they had been through. The anger and grief Bishop had felt as well as the sadness, guilt, and grief Abby dealt with were understandable. Theirs was a tough situation and the lack of communication was ultimately (in my humble opinion) where it all started to go wrong. I have to say that I appreciated how Elliott handled their reconciliation. She put Abby and Bishop through their paces before they had a chance to rebuild their friendship and then their romantic relationship.
For fans of the series, we got to catch up with previous couples Aiden & Willa and Hudson & Greer, plus all of the other secondary characters which was a blast. Seeing them interact and get up to their normal antics–the girls’ pajama party…OMG!–added some funny and heartwarming moments to a rather intensely emotional story.
QOTD: Have you read any reunion romances where the couple divorced and then got back together?

The day I first laid eyes on Abby Boyer, I knew she was the one. The girl I would marry and spend the rest of my life with, and I vowed to do everything I could to make her happy.
There was just one problem, I couldn’t make her happy during one of the darkest moments of our marriage. No matter how hard I tried, my love for her wasn’t enough to make her stay.
I’ve spent the last two years of my life trying to forget how much I still loved her.
Wouldn’t you know it, now that I finally managed to move on, Abby shows back up in Boggy Creek. Out of the blue. Here to stay.
They say time heals all wounds—well, two years wasn’t enough time to cover up the scars of our broken past because I still feel the pain like it was yesterday. My wounds are still healing, and not even my love for Abby can fix us…but will that love allow me to forgive her and finally move on?

I actually really love these type of situations and seeing a couple find each other eager even after divorce. I believe I have read some of these set ups but it does tend to be more rare in romance. Glad you enjoyed this one so much darling. Sounds like a gem of a read especially in the way the reconciliation was handled.

Right? Reunion romance is such a wonderful trope and I loved that this couple was basically high school sweethearts, got married and was the couple who all of their friends admired. Until they divorced, of course. It was cool how Kelly Elliott positioned it, so that their group of close friends still after two years kept the faith that Bishop & Abby were meant to be together–and told the couple that often as well. 🙂
