Single Mom’s New Year Wish by Sue MacKay: Claire first sees Nicolas at a Christmas event where he is being Santa Claus. She becomes teary-eyed when her young daughter, Mia, tells Santa she wants a cuddle from her daddy. That would be impossible since Mia’s father wanted nothing to do with Claire or the baby and is long gone.
Claire meets Nicolas in his normal garb at a clinic that is part of a medical complex. The clinic takes care of patients who need medical attention that isn’t an emergency. Claire works there as a doctor and Nicolas is a nurse.
The two of them work well together on a variety of cases. Both keep their personal lives to themselves. Claire is afraid to get close to any man in a romantic way after being abandoned a couple times. Nicolas has been through a divorce that makes him want to stay single. Can the two have more than a work relationship?
The author makes it clear how the two main characters have been through enough to cause serious emotional damage. The characters do truly grow over the arc of the story. Mia stole my heart with her innocence and sweetness. Despite not having a father around, she knew true unconditional love from her mother.
A lot of heart pounding suspense was added by the medical cases. The author has done her research and the cases come across as realistic.
Claire wanted a New Year that was special and different. Don’t we all want to have a new start when January 1st rolls around? Part of my New Year’s resolution is to concentrate more on my reading and not get pulled into social media and depressing news. I hope you will pick up this novel and other Harlequin Medical Romance books. You will be engaged by beautiful love stories and learn new facts along the way.

Might put this on my future reads list. (I don’t normally read the medical series, but this could be a maybe.)
