In Slow Ride by Kat Morrisey, Kyla O’Grady is trying to get as far away from her previous life as possible. So she packed her bags and hit the gas on her car Lola, the farther away she gets the safer she will be. She is carrying a heavy guilt about her past, but is hiding even more from it before it catches up to her and finishes her this time.

SR4Cooper Moretto and the entire town of Ashten Falls have a big problem, namely a corrupt town official that is killing the town. He and his close friends have taken it upon themselves to protect the innocent and the ones unable to protect themselves from said official.

Kyla didn’t have an exact plan of where she wanted to go, but Ashten Falls, Maine was not it. Unfortunately Lola, her ’67 Mustang Coupe, had other ideas when it decided to break down in the middle of the deserted road heading into town. She calls her tow service hoping that she will be able to get it repaired fast, but with nobody in sight and what seems to be a long wait, she decides to climb onto the back of the trunk and listen to some music.

When Cooper receives a call about a car in the middle of the road, he decides to help his friend tow it as he is close by. What he doesn’t expect is the immediate attraction he feels for the hot woman sitting on top of the trunk singing without a care in the world. There is something about her that gets under his skin as soon as he sees her, and he is not one to walk away from that. Only taking her into town will mean looking after her and protecting her from all dangers there.

Kyla doesn’t know what to believe when she sees Cooper, she believes that he might want to hurt her, but she won’t back down that easily by his approach. When he offers to buy Lola outright, Kyla doesn’t accept. Not only does she love her car very much and would never sell it, she would then not have money to buy another car and keep moving.

Kyla will challenge him each and every step of the way, even while he is helping her. Which means that even though she doesn’t have enough money to pay for the repairs, she will work for Cooper to pay for the repairs and parts, while getting a possible second job for her own survival. But the toughest thing will be to deal with him ordering her around about what she can and cannot do in town. She doesn’t understand why he gets mad if she walks alone anywhere without him or any of his friends around to look after her. She believes the town looks safe enough. But she once she learns the truth then she is truly afraid. She personally knows what a bad cop can be like and she hopes that Cooper will be able to get rid of them. But with her own bad cop out to kill her, she may be a little over her head.

Slow Ride by Kat Morrisey is an intense and hot read. I loved how protective Copper and his friends are about all the people in town and that they are trying to help the best way they can. The chemistry between Kyla and Copper is so hot you will need a cool glass of water, not to mention that the intrigue of what is going to happen with each of them having their own bad guys out to get them will keep you at the edge of your seat.

If you want a fun, intense and hot read, don’t miss Slow Ride by Kat Morrisey.

Kyla O’Grady hit the gas and drove her Mustang out of Rock River, Pennsylvania with one goal in mind: find somewhere to start over. Her life had gone sideways back home and Kyla needs something new, something fresh, and she needs to find the music again. But on a stretch of road off the coast of Maine, her car has other ideas. Broken down just inside the town limits of Ashten Falls, Maine, Kyla is stranded.

Cooper Moretto has a problem. In fact, the whole town of Ashten Falls has a problem in the form of a corrupt town official. Cooper had enough on his plate to last a lifetime, but on a stretch of highway heading into the town he spots a ’67 Mustang Coupe and does what any decent mechanic would do: stop to help. But getting this car back on the road is the last thing on his mind when he sees its owner, singing as if she weren’t in the middle of nowhere.

Kyla is speeding away from her past, unsure how to move forward. Cooper has been on cruise control, just hoping to get through every day without being arrested or harassed. Can the two slow down long enough to see that maybe the answers to both their problems lie in each other? And can they survive when enemies that are lurking in the shadows try to destroy them both?
