REVIEW: Stand by your Man by Susan Fox

Stand by your Man by Susan Fox: Karen MacLean and Jamal Estevez worked together, or at least ran an undercover investigation together. Once the operation was over they were set to Stand-by-your-Mango their separate ways, Karen back to being a small town cop and Jamal who was the big city undercover cop. That wasn’t the only way they were different though.

Karen wanted roots, Jamal couldn’t let any one close enough to hurt him. The problem is there were sparks and with sparks there is usually fire. Would their fire be enough to keep them warm, or would it be out in a flash?

This is part of Ms. Fox’s Caribou Crossing series though it can be read by itself. It is also a novella that helps explain some of the story lines that run through parts of the series. The story isn’t so much about the town though as it is about establishing Karen, Jamal, Jake and Brooke as the pillars of Caribou.

Stand by your Man by Susan Fox is a quick read that I would recommend as reading for a prequel to the series but not to make judgment on the series as it doesn’t give you a good enough picture of what Ms. Fox is capable of.

Sergeant Jamal Estevez is often trusted with undercover work, but his greatest challenge has been to conceal his true identity as a recovering alcoholic. A city guy who’s never had a real home, he’s starting to find peace riding the country roads of Caribou Crossing—with beautiful Corporal MacLean. As the attraction between them grows, Jamal may discover that the life Karen has been hoping for is exactly what he’s needed all along.
