Stranded with the Rancher by Janice Maynard is the first part in the Texas Cattleman’s Club: After the Storm series. This is a spin off from the Texas Cattleman Club.
Billionaire horse breeder Drew Farrell day starts with the usual argument with his neighbor Beth Andrews. Their argument soon ends when a storm approaches and they are trapped together in a darkened space. They call a truce…and seal it with an unexpected kiss.
They emerge from their shelter to find devastation all around them. Beth’s home is badly affected like the rest of the town and Drew offers Beth a place to stay while her home is being rebuilt. Their passion to rebuild is only rivaled by the very personal passion they’ve just discovered…until Beth’s past catches up with her, and a very different type of storm erupts….
Stranded with the Rancher by Janice Maynard is a well written romance about the coming together of two very unlikely people. Beth and Drew come from two very different world but still managed to find HEA in each other. Beth is prejudiced at first regarding Drew and resents him for reasons that are not quite solid. Drew too is no prince charming at the start. It takes time but the main characters evolve throughout the story and the reader’s perception changes about them towards the end (in a good way).
The main conflict and the climax towards the end could have been handled better, in my opinion. I felt everything escalated rather quickly towards the end and there was also a teeny bit of over reaction from the characters. It sure added to the drama which I liked but it was all over very quickly. The romance is enjoyable because of the amazing chemistry the characters share. Overall, this was an enjoyable story and a satisfying read.
