In Stranded with the Suspect by Cindi Myers , pregnant former socialite Andi Matheson is in danger, even though she doesn’t realize it. Officer Simon Woolridge has teamed up with the Ranger Brigade in order to bring down a cult leader. He believes Andi is the key to capturing him, convinced she knows information that could get her killed. Andi insists she doesn’t, but it soon becomes clear someone is coming after her, and Simon is determined to protect her and the unborn child at any cost.
While I enjoyed the book, I didn’t love it and I belive that it was, in part, due to Andi. After discovering the baby’s father was actually a married man, who her father killed, she takes off and joins a cult. At first she refuses to believe the worst about Daniel, the cult leader, although all evidence points otherwise. When a former cult member confirms that Daniel had kidnapped her son and tried to kill her, Andi still refuses to believe he would hurt her. When he lashes out and slaps her, she still believes he would never actually harm her or the baby. And when she finally starts to doubt him, a part of her still refuses to believe that he would only be using her to try to get her money. It was frustrating that she refused to see the truth, despite the fact more than one person tried to tell her the type of man Daniel was.
I haven’t read the previous books, so I felt like I was missing the background in regards to the father of Andi’s baby, who had been an undercover FBI agent acting as her father’s bodyguard, and why her father killed him. I would have liked to have had some background about that because it may have explained Andi’s choice to go into hiding. I also would have liked to have known a little more about the Ranger Brigade, since it’s not mentioned in this book what exactly they do.
This book would be for those readers who enjoy romantic suspense. There’s plenty of action as Simon and Andi try to outrun the bad guys and what the the danger from two men and attempt to unravel what Andi could possibly know that made Daniel so desperate.silence. I would recommend reading the previous books first though, in order to have a better understanding of what happened between Andy, the baby’s father, and her owner father.
