Summer Kisses by Melinda Curtis: Becca MacKenzie was running, lately it felt like that was all she was doing. A young widow, nothing to her name other than a motorhome, a small dog and her career as a CNA, she was wasn’t sure where even her next meal was coming from when she pulled into Harmony Valley. Would she find a quiet rest stop to help her pick up the pieces and decide what to do next? Or would this really be the last stop?
Flynn Harris came from little more than abandonment until he landed on his grandfather’s door at the age of eight. From there he learned what it meant to be a man, to hold true to your word and grew into a millionaire. Now his grandfather is dying, the town he holds so dear is dying and his half sister has just dropped her son off with them for a little “visit.” It’s all he can do to figure out what’s next?
When Becca applies to help Flynn’s grandfather recover the sparks start to fly. Both Becca and Flynn are hurting; both have been left and destroyed before. They both hold to their secrets so strongly that it feels like their hearts are bursting, so when the truth finally comes out will it mean their happiness or their destruction?
Ms. Curtis has got it all right with this story. The characters are so well written and the story line is such that you will need tissues for the happy and the sad parts. This is a story about redemption and love, making peace with your past and truly living in the present. No one is perfect and Ms. Curtis helps to show there are many gray issues in raising a child, and really just in being human. The tug to the Harris family with all of the issues that they had and yet all of the love shared, Ms. Curtis was able to give them humanity while still showing their “manliness.” This novel is a real heart warmer!

Her carefully crafted facade is unraveling…fast
Rebecca MacKenzie’s career as a caregiver for the elderly suited her perfectly. Ease their suffering, hop back in the motor home and move on. Caring without commitment. It was ideal for someone trying to outrun her memories…and mistakes. Someone determined to stay detached.
Flynn Harris, her new patient’s grandson, is weakening her resolve in every way. His scrutiny, his suspicion–and worst of all, his kisses–are more than distracting. They’re dangerous. Because she’s teetering on the edge of caring. And revealing her secrets. And…staying.
