Texas Thunder by Kimberly Raye is a quick yet satisfying read that kept me entertained. Once upon a time, two families, the Tuckers and Sawyers used to be really close friends and both contributed to one of the best moonshines that ever existed. Something happens that tears their partnership in half causing a lifelong feud. They each take half the recipe to the moonshine and go their separate ways.
When James Tucker dies, his granddaughter Callie must find a way to pay his debt and keep their home out of foreclosure. She gets an offer that could make her money troubles go away if she could reproduce the famous moonshine recipe. Only problem is, in order to do that she must ask Brett Sawyer to find his family’s half of the recipe
Callie and Brett share a history together. Not a happy one either. To Callie, Brett reminds her of disappointment and rejection. When he abandoned Callie, an unfortunate set of incidents came into play…incidents that can’t be undone.
I loved Callie as a character. She’s strong and puts her family first, by putting her needs and wants on the backburner. She gave up her dreams to look after her sisters, but never let that dream die. She’s admirable and is everything I like in a heroine.
When Brett looks at Callie, he sees want and need.
“Callie was the only woman who’d ever gotten under his skin, into his head, and shaken his precious control.”
Both Callie and Brett are headed in two different directions, but it’s only a matter time before their attraction becomes too much to bear. These characters have some major chemistry sizzling between them, but with Brett one foot out the door, how can they have anything meaningful?
Texas Thunder is an easy read with many intriguing characters and an interesting back story. I found myself rooting for Callie and Brett, and thought the ending was a perfect. I am definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

RECIPE FOR DISASTER
The most infamous moonshiners in Lone Star history, the Tuckers and the Sawyers have been feuding for over a hundred years. Sure, the days of buckshot and bloodshed are long gone, but it’s not over yet. To save the family business, Callie Tucker has to find the recipe for the legendary Texas Thunder moonshine. But first she’ll need to make a devil’s bargain—with a red-hot hellraiser named Brett Sawyer.
ROMANCE WITH A KICK
A Sawyer through and through, Brett was raised to never trust a Tucker—especially one as pretty as Callie. But desperate times call for desperate measures. With his ranch going bankrupt, Brett agrees to help Callie find the recipe, sell the rights, and split the profits. Of course, it won’t be easy for these two enemies to work together. But it’s even harder to ignore the sparks of attraction—when just one kiss delivers a kick stronger than any swig of moonshine

Thanks for the review, Jennifer. This is an unusual premise. I can’t remember ever reading a moonshiner romance. LOL
