In The Breaking Season (Seasons #3) by K.A. Linde, Although Katherine Van Pelt spends more times at odds with billionaire businessman Camden Percy than she does getting along with him, she somehow agrees to an arranged marriage between them. She does have to admit (if only to herself) that they have a strong attraction. But Katherine is not certain it will be enough to put up with Camden’s controlling ways. Although she didn’t realize that him taking control in the bedroom is a good thing. And it might just make up for his high-handedness. Katherine certainly never thought Camden would be kind and protective–or that she would begin to fall for him.

‘His look said only one thing–*mine*. After tonight, I would belong to him. He’d own me.
And no one was even going to object.
Not even me.’

Camden entered into the marriage contract with Katherine with a clear plan. She would have access to his money and he would get an heir to eventually take over the family business. Pretty straightforward. But Camden has never let on to anyone about how he craves Katherine. Particularly wanting her to surrender her will to him. If only she knew how much pleasure he could bring to her life if she did so. Just when they’re finally making progress, their pasts come back to haunt them, putting Camden in a tough position of making sure his wife is safe even if she might hate him for what he has to do. But to make sure he’ll have years together with Katherine, he’ll do anything to slay their demons and save their marriage.

‘I’d never heard Katherine Van Pelt beg for anything. But a guy had to have goals, right?’

K.A. Linde brought the sexy in her new arranged marriage, enemies-to-lovers romance, The Breaking Season. And oh how decadent, angsty, and seductive it was.

“Why did we think we could make this work?” I whispered.
He didn’t flinch from the question. “Because when we agreed, this was just an arrangement.”
I raised my eyebrows. “And what is it now?”
“A marriage.”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I sometimes have a difficult time with arranged marriage tropes in contemporary romance. Not so much in Historicals as it was a fairly commonplace practice in the past, so it seems *right*. But Linde put a few twists in this story that made the trope–and the story itself–totally work for me. And although there were a few hiccups along the way that had me aggravated with one or more characters (Katherine! Carlyle!) Linde gave us a completely swoon-worthy HEA that will melt your heart.

Katherine and Camden…wow what an up and down relationship they had. It really was an arranged marriage between them at first, both together for the publicity–and Katherine was there for the money. But there was a spark between her and Camden right from the start. It was actually pretty fun to watch because they were both so strong-willed that neither one wanted to lose any control in the relationship. Well except for in the bedroom where it got quite erotic with some dominance and submission. Talk about sparks flying! Once their feelings entered the picture, though, that’s when it got really interesting. The added complications of Camden’s family and an issue from Katherine’s past resurfacing put the couple through their paces, that’s for sure. But where it ended was pretty much the stuff of (modern) fairytales. Sigh…

Incredible chemistry along with a clash of wills made The Breaking Season a quick but steamy and highly enjoyable time. Whether you read this as a standalone or as a part of the Seasons series, you’ll be flying through the pages to get to that wonderful ending.

A sexy stand alone arranged marriage romance from USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde…

I signed on the dotted line. A marriage contract to seal my union with the devil.

I thought I knew what I was doing. His money and name were mine for the taking. But Camden Percy always gets exactly what he wants. And what he wants is me—my body, my obedience, my surrender.

He wants to break me.

But I’m Katherine Van Pelt. I’ll never break. I’ll never beg. I’ll never give in.

Except I promised him one more thing—a baby. A Percy heir.

There’s no way out of this one. Either I comply or lose everything. Do I risk the husband I’m just learning to love or is this my breaking season?

Thanks, Kathleen! She sure did! 😉 If you’ve read either of the first two books then you probably get why this couple was such an explosive combination together. Definitely enjoy!!

wow what a review….I have only read her vampire series and I have been looking to explore her further, and I know if you loved this one I will too. I am so intrigued by the arranged marriage trope in a contemporary, and as that is one of my favorite tropes, I will be adding this series on my list to read soon.

    Lovely review.

Thanks, Renee! It was a really interesting story where basically the hero and heroine were pretty much the antagonists in the previous two books. But this gave their side of things and showed us why they behaved as they did. Expect some angst, hot love scenes, and to want to smack either–or both–of them on occasion. LOL! But you can’t help but cheer them on the more the story progresses. 😉
