The Doctor’s Texas Baby By Deb Kastner: It was such a treat to read another “installment” in the Lone Star Boys Ranch series. The Boys Ranch seems like such a special place, one that really needs to be in every community in some shape or form. I am always impressed when I hear about such amazing organizations. One special aspect of following these series is to become “reacquainted” with favorite characters and to learn about each one in depth.
This time it was Wyatt Harrow’the basi turn. Wyatt is the local veterinarian who also volunteers his time at the ranch by treating the horses and other ranch animals and teaching the boys basics of animal care. Wyatt receives the surprise of his life when Carolina returns to town, with a little boy that turns out to be his son- the result of a special night Wyatt and Carolina shared a few years ago. Carolina is looking for a nursing position that accommodates recent physical injuries and limitations, and she ultimately wants Wyatt to have the opportunity to bond with his son Matty.
Wyatt must wrestle between his resentment that Carolina has not revealed before now that he is a father, and also feels an instant connection with his son. Wyatt still also feels attraction to Carolina, which they both struggle to resist. This all takes place against the backdrop of the ranch, which mos t townspeople are fighting to protect its’ future. I highly recommend this beautiful story.
