The Lightkeeper’s Curse by Cassie Miles is the second book in the Lighthouse Mysteries series. Each book in the series is a stand-alone, so if you haven’t read the first book in the series, you can jump into here with no issues.
Twenty years ago, a serial killer known as the Lightkeeper left his victims at lighthouses around the Portland area and was never caught. Now, a killer called the Shadowkeeper has emerged, replicating the previous killer. Is it the same person or is it someone new? Rookie FBI agent Skylar Gambel and police detective Jake Armstrong unite to get to the bottom of the mystery. When Skylar finds herself in the clutches of the killer, will Jake be able to rescue her before it’s too late?
This story will draw readers in from the start and keep their attention as it’s fast-paced and filled with action. The characters are well-written and relatable. The romance does take a bit of a back seat to the mystery and suspense, but I found that I didn’t mind that.
My only complaint would be that the culprit is, in my opinion, too easy to figure out. It wasn’t too hard to figure out here. While I was a little disappointed with that, it didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment of the story.
The Lightkeeper’s Curse would be for readers who enjoy romantic suspense with a touch of mystery.
