REVIEW: The Love Rematch by Kay Marie

The Love Rematch by Kay Marie is the first book in The Love Match series and the first book I have read by this author. It was a hilarious second-chance rom-com about a reality show called The Love Match. The author was able to make it realistic and very memorable with the witty banter. It had me laughing from the beginning and all the way to the end.

Emily Peters was horrified when she woke up and saw her mother on national television holding a sign saying, “Emily Ann needs a man!” While still on live TV, her mother announces the stunning news that the lead female in The Love Match show is pregnant. Then she nominates Emily as the new lead! Even though she will have thirty men fighting to win her over, she can only think of Jake, the boy she fell in love with. He had vanished seven yours ago to pursue his dream of directing movies and Emily soon discovers he is part of the show’s staff.

Jake was shocked when he learned Emily was the new female lead on The Love Match. He recently was promoted to the job of field producer on the show and now he was responsible for the thirty men who would be trying to win over his previous fiancé. He had never forgotten Emily and always regretted the way he had left her. What is more important, his job or a second chance at love?

This was a fun book and I loved how the author balanced the romance and the reality television scenes evenly. All the comedy and drama you would expect to see behind the scenes of a reality show were in the story. Although I enjoyed the book and the dual POV, it did become annoying the way the chapters started with the characters referring to themselves in the third person. Overall, this was a cute rom-com that was light and full of fun.
