The Marriage Bet by Olivia Hayle: Paige has spent years proving she belongs in the ruthless world of high finance and she refuses to let a powerful rival, no matter how infuriatingly charming he might be, stand in her way! Raphael is used to winning whether it’s business deals or bets he always has his eyes on the prize. But when a reckless challenge puts both their futures on the line the only solution is just as outrageous as it is binding… a temporary marriage that benefits them both. What starts as a strategic arrangement quickly becomes something far more dangerous… As the forced proximity blurs the lines between rivalry and desire, sharp banter gives way to lingering looks and the carefully constructed walls around their hearts begin to crack. Soon the start to stakes rise and the truth behind their motivations comes to light Paige and Rafe must decide whether this marriage was always just a means to an end… or the one gamble worth risking everything for…

I went into The Marriage Bet expecting a fun marriage of convenience romance… and came out completely obsessed! Hayle took one of my favourite tropes, layered it with razor-sharp banter, slow burn tension, and emotional depth and somehow made it feel fresh, addictive and impossible to put down. This book had me smiling one minute, soft the next and fully invested in Paige and Rafe long before either of them realised what was happening. A five-star read that delivered on chemistry, heart and that delicious “I’ll just read one more chapter” feeling!

What makes Paige and Rafe work so beautifully was how deliberately the story allows them to see each other beyond first impressions. Paige was driven, intelligent and unapologetically ambitious. Yet beneath that confidence was a woman carrying pressure, responsibility and the constant need to prove her worth in a male-dominated space. Rafe on the other hand was all polished control and quiet authority. But gosh as we get to peel back that exterior we see a man that has been shaped by loss, loyalty and a deep sense of duty. Together, they challenge and steady one another, which for me made them stand out. Paige refuses to let Rafe hide behind emotional distance, while Rafe offers Paige a sense of safety and unwavering support that never asks her to be less than she is.

The build-up of Paige and Rafe’s relationship was a masterclass in slow-burn tension where every interaction felt charged with something unspoken. Their chemistry wasn’t rushed or forced instead it simmers quietly through sharp banter, lingering looks and the constant push-and-pull of two people who refuse to admit what’s already there. What makes it so effective is how the attraction grows alongside trust, the more time they’re forced to spend together, the more their guarded edges soften allowing vulnerability to slip through in the smallest, most intimate ways.

The Marriage Bet ended up being one of those romances that just hits all the right notes for me. The chemistry was undeniable, the emotional build-up was beautifully paced and Paige and Rafe’s story felt both indulgent and grounded in a way I really loved. Hayle took familiar tropes and made them feel fresh, intentional and deeply satisfying. If you’re a fan of slow burn tension, strong characters who challenge each other and romances that reward your patience then this one is absolutely worth picking up!

Publication: February 1, 2026 | Olivia Hayle | The Billionaire Games #2

Rafe Montclair is the ruthless billionaire about to destroy my company. The only way to stop it? Become his wife and pretend to love the man I hate.

He’s tall, charming, and speaks three languages. But where I value craftsmanship, he shuts down century-old workshops for profit. I can’t let him do the same to my fashion house.

So I’ll wear his giant ring and spend the summer in his Lake Como villa, but I plan to drive him insane. I drink too much champagne, swim in his fountain, and steal shirts from his closet.

The problem? Rafe never backs down. He ups the stakes instead. Soon, we’re sharing a bed for appearances and kissing in public.

I tease him in tiny outfits just to see him crack. Until he does… and I learn the only thing more dangerous than Rafe Montclair in control is when he goes after what he wants.

He holds me when I have panic attacks and fights my battles like they’re his own. And when he wakes up from nightmares, he won’t explain… I realize he’s waging a war of his own.

Rafe bet he could control this marriage. But I’m the one thing he never planned on wanting this badly.
