The Princess and the Single Dad by Jessica Gilmore: Princess Arrosa ,who is going by the name Rosy, is hiding out in a small town in Cornwall. Soon she will have to return to Asturia to assume her royal duties and marry somebody suitable. She is having a much needed break thanks to her half-sister Clem who has lived in the small Cornwall town all her life. They both share the father King Zorien. Rosy has grown up in noble circumstances while Clem grew up with her mother Simone. King Zorien has provided financial help for Clem over the years, but never acknowledged her as his daughter. Rosy was able to spend time in Cornwall during summers, so she came to love Clem and Simone. Sadly, Simone has passed away.

Clem is trying to impersonate the princess. It’s hard but she manages to while not getting too close to the general public.

Rosy is having a wonderful time hiding out and behaving like a normal person. She meets Jack and his two daughters when she is out one day. Jack is a widower and trying to do his best with his children. Jack and Rosy strike up a friendship and the two girls bond with Rosy right away. Rosy knows she will have to leave soon. Can she keep her secret and walk away from the father and daughter?
It’s wonderful how the author weaves the stories of the two women together, so even if you didn’t read the first novel you can enjoy this one on it’s own. Of course, I suggest reading both to get the full flavor of all the characters involved.

I was very impressed with Jack. He had been the town bad boy when he was younger. Now he is doing very well as a single dad and is very kind. It’s always good to see a character who have been redeemed over time. He really had a rough time in his marriage and had to deal with his wife’s death and its effect on his daughters.

Rosy comes into her own over time. She has had to toe the line all her life as a member of royalty. She is able to discover that some things in life can be more flexible than ever imagined.
I’m so glad I was able to experience and enjoy both of these books over time. Author Jessica Gilmore brings locations and love stories to life.
