The Roommate Mistake by Pippa Grant: What was supposed to be an easy house and dog sitting gig for pregnant Ziggy soon turns into the makings of a forbidden romance. With Holt being gone for a month all Ziggy had to do was chill at his house, play with his pup and figure out what she planned on doing with her life, the ideal situation for a pregnant single gal really, well that is until Holt returns home a lot sooner than expected, after breaking his foot. Now the two find themselves in this new sort of roommates situation, with attraction bubbling and some unexpected feelings blooming they have no choice but to address the forbidden elephant in the room…You see when Ziggy first meet Holt, neither of them realized just how closely linked they actually were, turns out Holt is a player for the Copper Valley Pounders the very same rugby team that Ziggy’s father now owns and everyone knows hooking up with the owners daughter is a sure fire way to getting kicked off the team…
The Roommate Mistake was such a cute and heartwarming read, not to mention how hilarious this book actually was. Truly you really can’t go wrong with reading a Pippa Grant book and this silly cute sports romance just highlights this fact, there was so much to love about this book that I found myself not wanting to put my Kindle down. This really was a beautifully written romcom that has a lot of heart to it.
“Of everything I’ve ever done in my life, being her everything is…well, it’s my everything.”
Oh gosh our girl Ziggy, she was a crazy mess and I loved every bit of her character. While her life might have been a bit unsettled at the moment that did not stop her from being one of the sweetest most funny people around. My heart really went out to her, thinking that coming home to the support of her family after falling pregnant after a one night stand only to be shunned, truly was heartbreaking. Though I really liked getting to see her standing up on her own, making a plan and not crumbling in a corner. As for our hero, well lets just say that Holt was one of the most kind and caring rugby players that you will find. This guy might have been big muscles and scary tackles on the field but on the inside he was a total softie. I loved how gentle and caring he was when it came to taking care of Ziggy and the baby. I loved seeing him get all protective of them and really taking on the protector role that Ziggy kind of needed at this moment in her life.
The chemistry between these two was just perfection, there was banter, steam and so many giggles. Though the thing that really got me with this couple was their slightly strange meet cute, I mean as far as meet cutes go, theirs was pretty damn hilarious, all I’m going to say is; there was a full rotisserie chicken and bare hands involved. Aside from their less than normal first meeting, I just adored getting to see them form a friendship that helped heal both of them. I really liked the fact that while they were both going through their own issues, they never once tried to change each other, they just offered unconditional support and this was really beautiful.
Aside from these two and all their antics, it would be a complete miss talk about this book and not take a moment to mention the cuteness that was Jessica the Frenchie. Pippa really has away of crafting the most entertaining animal characters and this was so definitely the case with Jessica, I loved her little sassy moments and all the attitude and character that she brought to the book.
The Roommate Mistake was so much more than a sports romance, this friends to lovers romcom highlights the beauty of found family, unconditional love, support and acceptance. This truly was a beautiful combination of cute romcom and heart warming love story, definitely a must read from me!

It was supposed to be an easy house- and dog-sitting gig while the owner was gone for a month. But when my sportsing landlord comes home unexpectedly, injured and in need of a new arrangement, we end up as accidental roommates instead.
But if Holt Webster, the tall, thick-muscled, square-jawed, broody-eyed rugby player, had told me he played for the Copper Valley Pounders, I would’ve told him that my stepdad bought the team while I was working cruise ships overseas.
And he would’ve noped out of offering me a place to stay because the only thing worse than looking like you’re flirting with the owner’s daughter is looking like you’re hooking up with the owner’s pregnant daughter.
Yes, yes, I’m that woman—the one who accidentally got knocked up, decided to keep the baby, and had to move home because pregnancy and cruise ships aren’t a good match.
And now I’m that woman who doesn’t just look like she’s hooking up with an off-limits player. I actually am hooking up with an off-limits player. But who can blame me? He’s hot. He’s kind. And he’s spending our nights sleeping with his hand on my baby bump.
Claiming us both.
But if my dad finds out, Holt’s gone. And we’ll be…rucked.
