The Royal Runaway by Lindsay Emory: Princess Theodora has lived a life of duty, including her engagement to another royal approved by her grandmother, the Queen. While she mostly toes the line, she also yearns for her freedom. She’s adept at escaping the palace and has dedicated quite some time to learning all possible escape routes. She’s also really smart, loves history, and will segue into a history lesson at the drop of a hat.

Thea didn’t expect for her fiancé to essentially leave her at the altar and no one seemed to see that coming. After a four-month stint in hiding, she’s back home and fulfilling her duties. She’s in a funk and she meets a handsome Scottish stranger on another of her escapes from the palace. Nick isn’t just any stranger, as he’s the brother of her MIA ex-fiancé, presumed dead, rightful heir to his family’s dukedom, and a spy.

Nick is definitely the more attractive brother, focused, intense, manipulative, and protective. He’s planning to get to the bottom of the mystery of his brother being missing since leaving Thea high and dry. He’s smart, ruthless, and very private about his decision to leave the life he was born into. He’s more than willing to use Thea to get the information he needs.

“You’re not…picking up anyone?”
It took me a moment. “Are you insinuating that I’m a prostitute?”
“Well, if you are, you’re a badly dressed one.”
“What, are you an expert?” His mouth slid up on one side, clearly amused. “Not regarding fashion, no.”

Thea quickly becomes a thorn in his side. She’s not what he expected and her relationship with his brother doesn’t fit his expectations. While Thea actually has quite a bit to contribute to his investigation, he’s not sure he wants her around. She’s curious and asks a lot of questions, especially now that she sees the bigger picture. There’s definitely a spark between them and it only seems to grow as they work together to solve this mystery.

“If I find your brother, I’m going to punch him,” I said through gritted teeth.
“You’re fairly violent for a princess.”
I sighed. “I know. It’s my only flaw.”

The Royal Runaway is fun, intriguing, and surprising. Lindsay Emory created a unique storyline and allowed for Thea to grow into quite the independent and badass royal. Ms. Emory provided drama, conflict, betrayal, heat, and an interesting cast of characters. Fans of Teri Wilson and Jasmine Guillory will enjoy The Royal Runaway.

For fans of The Princess Diaries and The Royal We comes a fun and daring novel about a modern-day princess who teams up with a spy to find out what happened to the fiancé who left her at the altar—and who just might get her own fairytale in the process.

Princess Theodora Isabella Victoria of Drieden of the Royal House Laurent is so over this princess thing.

After her fiancé jilted her on their wedding day, she’s finally back home after spending four months in exile—aka it’s back to press conferences, public appearances, and putting on a show for the Driedish nation as the perfect princess they expect her to be. But Thea’s sick of duty. After all, that’s what got her into this mess in the first place.

So when she sneaks out of the palace and meets a sexy Scot named Nick in a local bar, she relishes the chance to be a normal woman for a change. But just as she thinks she’s found her Prince Charming for the night, he reveals his intentions are less than honorable: he’s the brother of her former fiancé, a British spy, and he’s not above blackmail. As Thea reluctantly joins forces with Nick to find out what happened the day her fiancé disappeared, together they discover a secret that could destroy a centuries-old monarchy and change life as they know it.

Funny, fast-paced, and full of more twists and turns than the castle Thea lives in, The Royal Runaway is a fresh romantic comedy that will leave you cheering for the modern-day royal who chucks the rulebook aside to create her own happily-ever-after.
