REVIEW: The Russian’s Acquisition by Dani Collins

In The Russian’s Acquisition by Dani Collins, Aleksy Dmitriev vendetta against the man who ruined his life remained incomplete with his enemy’s death but he will go against all the people who worked with or for him. It includes his late nemesis’s girlfriend and mistress, Clair Daniels who he later finds out is a virgin and could not have been anybody’s mistress but he still determined to make her his and he will stop at nothing to bend her at his will…But Clair as he later finds out would not be more than just this Russian’s acquisition!

The Russian Acquisition by Dani Collins is a well written romance with a a steamy romance plot. There are many misunderstandings to be overcome by the main characters to finally reach their HEA. This one represents the older harlequins in its plot-line, romance and characterization and therefore if you enjoy the blackmail trope in the old Presents style then you may enjoy this.

The characters did not work for me personally because they were not what I look for in a romance. Aleksy is a dominant alpha hero who takes what he wants without any questions asked. I don’t go for that type of heroes generally and therefore he did not impress me that much. I did not like his attitude with Clair half of the time especially the way he reacted after they slept together for the first time. Clair Daniels is a virginal, innocent heroine who most of the time goes with what Aleksy demands. In the beginning chapters the resistance she offers to him is almost equal to zero. She runs a charity and is sweet tending on the damsel in distress type.

Overall, The Russian Acquisition by Dani Collins is a good and enjoyable read but was spoiled for me personally because I wasn’t able to connect / relate to the characters…but you just might!
