The Seduction Game by Emma Shortt: Kate Kelly is a complete computer nerd. She owns and runs her own computer repair store, wears heavy glasses that cause her to constantly push them up on her nose, and her entire wardrobe consists of vintage t-shirts, jeans and Converse sneakers. She is a very smart woman and her ability to stand up for what she believes in is noble. Kate loves her place, and it is the only thing she has that makes her feel connected to her life before her parents passed away. Her best friend Meg, also a computer guru, helps her run the shop. Unfortunately, business is at an all time low because the restaurants and shops that once surrounded her building have been purchased by a developer. For personal reasons, Kate does not want to sell, and furthermore, the developer’s representative has been less than cordial and has resorted to bullying tactics in order to make her sell.
Will Thornton is millionaire who is also a total hottie. He develops real estate in areas that need a face-lift and as a result, brings jobs and prosperity to places that without his help would most likely not survive. He is a good man that cares about his employees and takes care of his loving family. His brother-in-law Chris, has been overseeing his latest project while he has been away doing business in London. Little does Will know that Chris is skimming money off the top and is applying unbusinesslike tactics in order to convince Kate to sell her building.
Now that Will is home, he decides to take on Kate and her unwillingness to sell as his personal project. It just so happens that Kate and Will have an instant chemistry, which they both find odd because they are complete opposites. Kate has lived an extremely sheltered life, while Will has traveled and expanded his business. What begins as a slow seduction by Will, evolves into a full blown love affair.
I really did not care for this book. To begin with, the story dragged in quite a few places, which caused me to put the book down and step away from the story on more than one occasion. I found the writing to be simplistic and with the exception of some curse words, arousing kisses and a sex scene, the story would be better suited for the teenage crowd. On a positive note, I liked Meg a lot, her character added some quirkiness and optimism to the book. I also liked Jenny, Will’s sister, because she exhibited a realness the other characters lacked.

When millionaire bad boy, Will Thornton, tries to buy computer-geek Kate Kelly’s building out from under her, she refuses to sell. Will might be uber rich, and super successful but she won’t be bullied. Trouble is, she didn’t expect Will to look like one of her fantasy heroes, or to make her heart beat a little too fast. She’s prepared to wait him out, but it’ll take every ounce of her self-control to win this game.
With millions of dollars on the line, Will is positive he can make Kate sell. He’s played the game better than anybody and charming is his middle name. Problem is, the snarky, geeky, computer-wiz is nothing like he imagined—impossibly cute and a match for him in every way.
The game is on but can two such radically different people come out winners in the game of seduction?
