The Sweetheart Fix by Miranda Liasson: Juliet Montgomery loved her small hometown of Blossom Glen, Indiana. She has finally finished her marriage and family therapy degree and has returned home. She hopes to help the community she loves as one of their therapists, just like the help she received as a teenager after her father died. Unfortunately in small towns, a person cannot escape their past and her track record in the romance department was not doing her any good. She had three broken engagements, so couples didn’t think she was qualified to counsel them. While Juliet’s couples sessions are put on hold, she has time to help Jack as town counselor.

“Life’s no fairy-tale…But true love does make the hard times a whole lot less heavy. And someone who truly loves you makes you believe you can do anything.”

Jack Monroe becomes the mayor of Blossom Glen to try and save his grandmother’s land which has been in the family for many years. He needs to convince the town and the zoning committee not to change the land to commercial use otherwise the developers will turn it into a golf course with high-end shops, and a high-rise hotel. The developers have convinced the town with their promise of all the money it would bring to the community. Jack realizes he has a hard time showing and expressing his emotions but to convince the town he needs to improve his image and show a softer side.

“…you’ve got to open yourself up to people in order to be able to love them and be loved back.”

As they work together, Juliet comes to realize that in her previous relationships she was always trying to please others and make things work until she finally couldn’t handle it any longer. With Jack she didn’t have to change herself, he accepted her as she was and believed in her. Together they were able to help each other and find their happy ending. This is the second book in the Blossom Glen series, but it could be read as a standalone. It was a beautiful story of two people trying to find themselves and preserve their small town.

Juliet Montgomery absolutely loves her small town of Blossom Glen, Indiana, and everyone loves her. Except for the fact that she’s a couples counselor who suffered a very public breakup that no one can forget. And now her boss asks her to take a step back…which is exactly when the town’s good-lookin’ and unusually gruff mayor offers her an unexpected job.

Jack Monroe absolutely loves being the mayor of his small town. Except when he actually has to talk to people. Can’t he just fix the community problems in peace? Like right now, he’s mediating the silliest dispute two neighbors could possibly have. When the town sweetheart steps up and solves everyone’s problems in five minutes flat, Jack realizes what this town really needs…is a therapist.

Juliet is able to soothe anyone—other than the surly mayor, it seems. But there’s a reason they say opposites attract, because all of their verbal sparring leads to some serious attraction. Only, just like with fireworks, the view might appear beautiful—but she’s already had one public explosion that’s nearly ruined everything…how can she risk her heart again?
